    Nathan Horton photo

Nathan Horton has been a professional photographer for 24 years since graduating with a BA Hons in Film, Photography and Video Arts in 1990. He has sold work as an artist, worked as an advertising photographer for some of the world’s biggest brands including Nokia and Lux and also as an editorial photographer for some of London’s premier magazine titles including Elle, The Times Travel section and Food and Travel magazine.

Nathan has travelled extensively in Asia for over 25 years and has made Cambodia his home since 2006. In Cambodia he has traveled the length and breadth of the country and because of this it can be said he knows it like the back of his hand. Talking a little of the Khmer language obviously also helps engage with local people.

    Hard Rock Cafe Angkor

Hard Rock Cafe Angkor is located in Siem Reap, the nearest city to the world-famous Angkor Temples. The Cafe is located next to the Old Market, on King’s Road, just across the Siem Reap River.

Situated in an old colonial-styel building, Hard Rock Cafe Angkor fits perfectly with the surrounding businesses and buildings in the historic city center. With 160 seats across two floors, and an additional 80 seats on the riverside terrace, the Cafe is truly a spectacular addition to Siem Reap and a great place to grab a bit and settle in for some great views.

    The Man Who Built Cambodia

Cambodia in the 1950s had a young and ambitious monarch in need of a young and ambitious architect. He found one in Vann Molyvann, and their 15 year partnership produced an astonishing array of grand public structures that drew on Khmer history, even while forging a new, forward looking identity.
The early 90s marked the end of the Khmer Rouges and a new era in Cambodia. Eager to forget the past, the country went on a building spree. The capital city of Phnom Penh - long a low-rise town of temples and palaces - is now dotted with cranes worked by crews erecting high-rises that wouldn't look out of place in Hong Kong or Singapore.
"The Man Who Built Cambodia" is a 24 minute documentary that captures the genius of Vann Molyvann and his fall from favour. In a new age that values progress at all costs, can his legacy survive and guide Cambodia into a new era?

Michelle Obama Promoting Girls' Education In Cambodia

U.S. first lady Michelle Obama traveled Friday from Japan to Cambodia -- a journey from one of Asia's richest countries to one of its poorest -- as part of a campaign to help millions of girls around the world stay in school.

Mrs. Obama arrived in the city of Siem Reap, home to Cambodia's famed Angkor Wat temple complex, where she planned to sightsee following activities Saturday focused on the U.S.-led education initiative "Let Girls Learn."

The White House has said Mrs. Obama is expected to "share American perspectives about education and good governance" but was unlikely to directly criticize Cambodia's human rights record.

"While it's welcome that Michelle Obama is taking up the important cause of educating girls, she also needs to recognize that Cambodia is a human rights basket case," said Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch. He urged her to "speak up about rampant violence against women, impunity of security forces and failure of democratic governance."

    Photo walk Cambodia

Taking pictures in Cambodia, one step at a time.
This time, we are going to meet at Meta House and walk around a very interesting neighbourhood. We’ll meet up at 4pm upstairs in Meta House and start our walk around 4.20pm. Afterwards we can stop somewhere for food before returning to Meta House where there’s a Kheltica gig and the monthly “Swagger” party.
