    U.S. Service Sector Grows At Slower Rate In January

    Growth in the U.S. service sector slowed in the month of January, the Institute for Supply Management revealed in a report released on Wednesday. The ISM said its non-manufacturing index dropped to 53.5 in January from an upwardly revised 55.8 in December, although a reading above 50 still indicates growth in the service sector.

    U.S. Labor Productivity Falls 3.0% In Q4, More Than Expected

    Labor productivity in the U.S. fell by more than anticipated in the fourth quarter, according to a report released by the Labor Department on Thursday. The report said labor productivity dropped by 3.0 percent in the fourth quarter after climbing by 2.1 percent in the third quarter.

    Largely reflecting a steep drop in durable goods orders, the Commerce Department released a report on Thursday showing a notable decrease in new orders for U.S. manufactured goods in the month of December. The Commerce Department said factory orders tumbled by 2.9 percent in December.

    Business activity for New York manufacturers has continued to decline in the month of February, according to a report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Tuesday. The New York Fed said its general business conditions index climbed to a negative 16.6 in February from a negative 19.4 in January.
