    South Korea GDP Jumps 1.1% In Q2

    South Korea's gross domestic product climbed a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent in the second quarter of 2013 compared to the previous three months, the Bank of Korea said in Thursday's preliminary reading. That blew away forecasts for an increase of 0.3 percent following the 0.8 percent gain in the first quarter. In a statement accompanying the data, the bank said "facilities investment declined, but private consumption swung to growth."

    Jump In Aircraft Demand Drives U.S. Durable Goods Orders Up 4.2%

    With orders for transportation equipment showing a substantial increase, the Commerce Department released a report on Thursday showing that new orders for U.S. manufactured durable goods rose by much more than expected in the month of June. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 4.2 percent in June following an upwardly revised 5.2 percent jump in May.
