    UK retail sales declined more than expected in March and the falling trend is likely to continue as consumer confidence fell near record low in April amid rising inflation and interest rates. Retail sales dropped 1.4 percent on a monthly basis, largely due to the 7.9 percent fall in non-store retailing.

    Consumer prices in New Zealand jumped to a 30-year high of 6.9 percent on year in the first quarter of 2022, Statistics New Zealand said on Thursday. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, consumer prices climbed 1.8 percent - again beneath expectations for an increase of 2.0 percent and up from 1.4 percent in the three months prior.
