Oculus Rift Gets Lucky with Three New Games
Love your Oculus Rift, but running out of games to play? Well, you're in luck. Virtual-reality pioneer OculusVR has announced three new titles just in time for E3 2014.
Fans of the "Alien" movie series can step into the dark, foreboding world of interstellar terror in Sega's "Alien: Isolation." Players will take on the role of Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, 15 years after the events of "Alien."
Looking for answers into the disappearance of her mother, Amanda finds herself trapped with the apex predator on an abandoned space station. We expect big scares and lots of claustrophobic moments as players have to do whatever it takes to survive.
For gamers seeking a lighter experience, there's "Lucky's Tale." It's an Oculus Rift exclusive and comes from Paul Bettner, co-creator of popular mobile title "Words With Friends."
First-person-shooter fanatics will want to check out "Superhot." An independent title, the game has been enjoying modest success on Steam, being voted in through the Greenlight program in less than a day. Described as a "unique first-person shooter," time passes in the game only as players traverse through the world.
The previously announced "EVE: Valkyrie," CCP Games' multiplayer space dogfighter, will also be available for gamers who want to pull off a few barrel rolls in zero-gravity.
While news about the Oculus Rift's expanding game library is positive, OculusVR has yet to set a launch date for the promised consumer model. For now, Oculus Rift remains the plaything of developers and early adopters.
