Waking up in the Bahamas every morning would be perfect
First home was their vacation home
Mary McCarthy wasn't sure she wanted to buy a condo in Old Town. While considering a change from renting to owning, she loved her apartment but remembers thinking, "What I want at 29 is probably not what I want at 35." But what was she sure wouldn't change? Her lifelong goal to be able to visit a lakeside town harboring nostalgic memories of family summer vacations. So, while sharing her Chicago rent with a roommate, she bought a three-bedroom place in 2012 in Duneland Beach, Ind.
"A lot of it is a dream fulfillment," said John Gajkowski, co-founder of the Oak Brook-based Money Managers Financial Group. "They've always wanted to have a lake home. They might have grown up with their parents or grandparents having a lake home."

Emerald Lake is located in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is the largest of Yoho's 61 lakes and ponds, as well as one of the park's premier tourist attractions. Emerald Lake Lodge, a high-end lodge perched on the edge of the lake, provides local accommodation. A 5.2 km (3.2 mi) hiking trail circuits the lake, the first half of which is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. During the summer months, canoe rentals are available; in the winter, the lake is a popular cross country skiing destination.
