Apple shares have been on a tear since March, even breaking past the long-term descending trend line on its daily chart. Price has also broken past the highest 61.8% Fib level, suggesting that a reversal from the downtrend is in order.
For now, the 100 SMA is below the 200 SMA so the path of least resistance might still be to the downside. Also, the 200 SMA is holding as a dynamic inflection point, possibly serving as the line in the sand for keeping gains in check.
Stochastic is already indicating overbought conditions so bearish pressure could come in play. RSI is also in the overbought area, although both oscillators haven’t crossed lower to indicate a return in selling momentum just yet.

With that, Apple shares could be in for more gains, possibly until the next resistance at $120/share. However, if the selloff resumes from here, Apple shares could still revisit the lows at $92.60/share or the nearby area of interest around $102-105/share.

Still, some analysts believe that the market rally is overdone and that Apple shares could have trouble sustaining momentum from here. After all, shares of smartphones are projected to decline and the company could have trouble holding on to its market share in China, especially with growth concerns still in play.

Also, reports that the FBI has been able to de-encrypt the iPhone used in the San Bernardino shootings led to concerns about Apple security, although this doesn’t appear to have been mirrored in Apple shares just yet. Moving forward, global growth concerns could continue to prevent risk-taking from supporting high-yielding US equities while revived risk appetite could spur prolonged gains.

GBPJPY has been trending lower, moving inside a descending channel visible on its 4-hour time frame. Price got rejected at the resistance and is making its way towards support at 148.00.
The 100 SMA appears to be crossing below the 200 SMA to confirm that the path of least resistance is to the downside. However, both stochastic and RSI are deep in the oversold regions, suggesting that a correction might take place sooner or later.

If so, price could still retreat to the top of the range at 158.00-160.00, which might continue to keep gains in check. UK manufacturing production is up for release today and analysts are expecting to see a 0.2% decline, possibly pushing the pair below its recent lows near 151.50.

Japanese officials have jawboned the yen yesterday, reminding market watchers that they are watching yen FX levels closely. However, traders didn’t seem to buy their bluff and even pushed the yen higher.
Risk-off moves were seen in recent sessions after the ECB minutes revealed that policymakers actually considered larger rate cuts. ECB Governor Draghi also emphasized that they’re ready to do “whatever it takes” to stimulate growth and inflation.

As for the UK economy itself, Brexit concerns continue to linger and weigh on the pound’s gains. Data from the UK economy has been mostly weaker than expected in previous weeks, adding to downside pressure.

Amazon Shares to Rally on Upbeat Earnings?



Amazon shares have been trending higher, moving above an ascending trend line on the 1-hour time frame. Price is actually testing this trend line now and is drawing support from the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level, which coincides with the 200 SMA.
The 100 SMA is above the longer-term 200 SMA so the uptrend is likely to carry on. In that case, Amazon shares could climb back up to the swing high at $634 or beyond. A larger correction could still find a floor at the next Fib levels of $585 and $575.
Stochastic is on the move down so sellers might still be in control. RSI is also heading south so Amazon shares could follow suit. However, the company’s latest earnings report has shown impressive results so a gap higher could be possible.
Profit and revenue for the first quarter beat analysts’ expectations, buoyed mostly by strong performance in its cloud division. This marked the company’s fourth straight quarterly earnings beat.

NZDCAD has been on a steady downtrend, trading inside a descending channel on its 4-hour time frame. Price appears to be pulling up to the channel resistance around the .8850 minor psychological level, which might hold as resistance.

This area lines up with the moving averages, which might add to the strength of the resistance. The 100 SMA is below the 200 SMA, confirming that the path of least resistance is to the downside.

In addition, stochastic is indicating overbought conditions so buyers might be exhausted and could let sellers take over. RSI is heading north so there’s some bullish pressure left but this oscillator is also nearing the overbought zone. A bearish divergence can be seen on stochastic as price made lower highs while the oscillator had higher highs.
