Warner Bros Mortal Kombat dropped on HBO Max and into theaters Friday, introducing us to new fighter Cole Young as he flees icy ninja Sub-Zero and teams up with some klassic characters from the games. It comes nearly 24 years after the iconic series' last cinematic outing, and improves on that in every way. The movie is already out in Australia, and will be available in the UK at a later date.

Elon Musk is going to host the TV show in two weeks.
James Martin/CNET Elon Musk, the billionaire businessman behind Tesla and SpaceX, will host Saturday Night Live on May 8, the NBC sketch comedy show announced Saturday. Miley Cyrus will be the musical guest. A press release from SNL described Musk as "the CEO and Technoking of Tesla and the chief engineer of SpaceX, which launched the second operational flight of its Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station on April 23."

Apple Apple released a new color for the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, and it's purple. It goes on sale Friday, but I got my hands on an iPhone 12 with 256GB of storage in purple. And I can indeed confirm, it's purple. But the timing of the new color is six months after Apple launched the iPhone 12 series and about six months away from the rumored iPhone 13. It runs Windows 10 on Intel 11th gen CPUs with Iris Xe graphics and Thunderbolt 4. The X12 has a magnesium alloy casing and passes a variety of MIL SPEC tests, yet its weight is close to the Surface Pro 7. The tablet supports pen (included with US models) and touch, has optional 4G LTE, a backlit keyboard, Windows Hello IR camera and a fingerprint scanner. This is Lenovo’s first detachable ThinkPad since the 2018 ThinkPad X1 Tablet.

A rumored smartwatch from Facebook could make its debut next summer. The social network plans to release a smartwatch with two cameras for taking photos and video, as well as health features like a heart rate monitor, according to a report Wednesday from The Verge, citing two people familiar with the project.
The first version of the smartwatch is expected to be released in the summer 2022, according to The Verge. It could reportedly cost around $400, though the price may change. The smartwatch will support LTE connectivity and come in colors including white, black and gold, according to the report.
Facebook declined to comment but pointed to tweets from Andrew Bosworth, vice president of AR and VR at Facebook.

With Microsoft revealing Monday that support for Windows 10 will end in 2025, the next generation of Windows appears to feature a new Start menu, home screen, startup sound and a more modern and Mac-like aesthetic.
