Google on Wednesday unveiled a new AI system called PaLM 2, a major update to its most powerful language processing system. The artificial intelligence technology already is incorporated into 25 Google products, underscoring its importance as the company races to capitalize on a computing revolution.
"PaLM 2 is a state-of-the-art language model. It's good at math, coding, reasoning, multilingual translation and natural language generation," said Zoubin Ghahramani, a vice president at Google's DeepMind division that oversees the company's artificial intelligence work.

Google is working on a new AI tool called Genesis that's supposed to be able to write news stories. The company has pitched the tool to a handful of major news organizations, including The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, as a "personal assistant" or "helpmate" for journalists that can automate some tasks, the Times reported. Genesis is able to "take in information -- details of current events, for example -- and generate news content," the Times said, citing "people familiar with the matter."

It's only been two weeks since Microsoft unveiled Windows Recall as a key feature of its Copilot artificial intelligence tool, but the software feature is already being blasted by security experts.
The feature, which tracks all activity on a Windows computer to make things easier to find later using natural language, is being labeled a hackable security disaster. At least one white-hat hacker already created a tool that can extract sensitive data from Recall. It's called, naturally, TotalRecall and is available on Github now.

Honor says its soon-to-be-released Magic 7 phone will handle your morning coffee order, tailored exactly to your taste, right down to the type of milk you prefer.
The Chinese company released a demo video to the media on Tuesday showing a text-based interaction between a person and the device's AI assistant, Yoyo. The user requests the assistant to order him a pick-me-up beverage saying, "Please help me order a drink. I am feeling a little sleepy." The AI assistant then goes on to launch the app for LuckIn Coffee, China's answer to Starbucks, selecting the Raw Milk Latte drink and takeout before placing the order.
