The Surface Book is Microsoft's rival to the MacBook, and on October 6, when the company finally took the wraps off the device, it described it as the one replacement for those who want to switch from Apple.

And to make sure that everyone's aware that the Surface Book is the perfect alternative to the Apple MacBook, Microsoft has set up a site where it provides information not only on the device itself but also on Windows 10 and the way the transition can be performed smoothly.

“Whether you’re considering a Microsoft Surface Book or have already purchased one, we want to say thank you! We designed Surface Book to be the ultimate laptop and to make you more productive in every aspect of your digital work and life. We’re truly humbled you’re here, and we’re excited to see what you do with your new Surface Book,” the message that greets users when loading the website reads.
Two times faster than the Surface Book

Microsoft claims that the Surface Book is two times faster than the MacBook Pro, and internal benchmarks that aren't publicly available right now are supposed to confirm this.

Third-party benchmarks claim otherwise and suggest that the Surface Book isn't necessarily faster than the MacBook Pro, but confirm that its GPU helps a lot, especially when playing games.

In a statement sent to us by a company spokesperson, Microsoft says that, in its internal benchmarks, it actually tested the top models from each range, so that's why the results might be a little different.

“Our validated performance claims are for the Microsoft Surface Book with an Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM and custom discrete Nvidia GeForce GPU against the MacBook Pro 13-inch with Retina display with an Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM. We used third-party benchmarks to test the best available Surface Book against the best available 13-inch MacBook Pro,” the spokesperson has told us.

Other details are not available right now, but more information on these benchmarks should be provided soon, as the Surface Book is now shipping to customers who pre-ordered it.
