25 Greatest Songs Produced by Dr. Dre and Jimmy lovine

The Defiant Ones, set to premiere on HBO on July 9th, explores Andre "Dr. Dre" Young and Jimmy Iovine's years of collaborations. To prepare for the four-hour documentary, we've assembled a murderers' row of Dre's best tracks dating back to 1992, when Iovine's Interscope label began distributing Dre and Suge Knight's Death Row Records. Not every Dre production is listed here, only the gems he made under the Interscope umbrella. But save for a few stray tracks – his work on Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair" comes to mind – this list closely follows Dre's heyday through the turn of the millennium.

Dr. Dre, "Nuthin' But a G Thang" (1992)
Dr. Dre, "Fuck Wit Dre Day" (1992)
Snoop Dogg, "Gin & Juice" (1993)

    2Pac, "California Love" (1995)

    The Firm, "Phone Tap" (1997)
    Eminem, "My Name Is" (1999)
    Dr. Dre, "Still D.R.E." (1999)
Dr. Dre, "Forgot About Dre" (1999)
Dr. Dre feat. Hittman, Kurupt, Nate Dogg & Six-Two, "Xxplosive" (1999)

On the Charts: DJ Khaled Edges Imagine Dragons for Number One

DJ Khaled edged out Imagine Dragons to take Number One on the Billboard 200 as the producer's Grateful sold 149,000 total copies in its debut week.

Khaled's latest all-star affair gave him his second straight chart topper – following 2016's Major Key – even though Grateful was largely powered by streaming equivalent albums, or SEAs; only 50,000 units of the 149,000 haul came from traditional album sales, Billboard reports.

See Arcade Fire Dance Through New Orleans

Arcade Fire released a new album cut entitled "Electric Blue" on Thursday: a dancefloor-friendly number with a thunking beat and cascades of bright guitar.

All the vocals on "Electric Blue" are sung in a dreamy, high register in the manner of seminal disco groups like the Bee Gees. The video follows Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne as she struts through New Orleans at night. The clip was filmed in the city during Mardi Gras season, and Chassagne dances through dark streets that are covered with trash from the celebrations. As she grooves, city workers and garbage trucks flow around her, attempting to clean up the mess.

Ed Sheeran to Guest Star on Music-Themed Episode

Fresh off Ed Sheeran's cameo on Game of Thrones, the singer will again appear on a Sunday night staple this fall when he lends his voice to a character on The Simpsons.

On the musical-themed episode "Haw-Haw Land," a La La Land parody that's due to premiere during the show's record 29th season, Sheeran will voice a musician named Brendan who becomes Lisa Simpson's love interest and Milhouse's nemesis, Entertainment Weekly reports. Sheeran will also sing during the episode.

"This year continues to be equally surreal and amazing. Watch out for this one, me and Lisa have a whole thing going on," Sheeran wrote on Instagram.

Bobby Taylor, Motown Singer Who Discovered Jackson 5, Dead at 83

Bobby Taylor, the veteran singer and producer who brought the Jackson 5 to Motown in the late Sixties, died Saturday morning at a hospital in Hong Kong, where he'd been living for the last several years. He was 83 and had been undergoing treatment for leukemia and tumors in his spine. "Bobby was a producer, creator and mentor to all of the greats in the early Motown days," says Suzy Michelson, a longtime family friend and fellow producer who confirmed Taylor's death to Rolling Stone.

"Bobby had a range that exceeded even Patti LaBelle," recalls Tommy Chong, who played guitar in Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers, a Motown band famous for 1968's Number Five R&B hit "Does Your Mama Know About Me."*
"He used to do 'Danny Boy' and make everybody cry in the audience. He would hit notes that were unbelievably high and he could sound like anybody he wanted to sound like—Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey [Robinson]. I've been with a lot of singers, but nothing like Bobby."

The clip is "Dedicated to all of those we lost to the streets"

Meek Mill reflects on life and loss in his new video for "We Ball" featuring Young Thug. The song hails from his new album, Wins and Losses.

The clip is "Dedicated to all of those we lost to the streets" and opens on Meek Mill's late protégé Lil Snupe adeptly freestyle rapping; the 18-year-old artist was shot and killed in 2013. The solemn themes of the video continue with montages of funerals and sweeping cemetery shots.

Metallica's Lars Ulrich has managed to book

Metallica's Lars Ulrich has managed to book an exclusive and elite trio of guests for the next three episodes of It's Electric, his Apple Music radio show: James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. "I listened to Kirk's episode yesterday, and it's definitely unlike anything that Metallica fans have ever heard," he tells Rolling Stone. "Each of them put together a playlist that reflects certain elements of their past – stuff from back in the day and stuff that helped shape who they are musically – and I learned a lot. As the world's biggest Metallica fan, I got the chance to interview these guys and learn more about their musical DNA."

The drummer recorded each of the shows when the band was in Toronto on their ongoing WorldWired tour, and he will be airing the episodes – with one full hour dedicated to each member – on Sundays at 6 p.m. EST on Apple Music's Beats 1 radio with encore airings running at 6 a.m. EST on Mondays. Hammett's episode will air first on July 30th, with Trujillo (August 6th) and Hetfield (August 13th) to follow.
