    Japan Household Spending Falls 5.6% In September

    The average of household spending in Japan was down 5.6 percent on year in September, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday - standing at 275,226 yen.

    That missed forecasts for a decline of 4.3 percent on year following the 4.7 percent contraction in August.

    The average of monthly income per household stood at 421,809 yen, down 6.0 percent on year.

    The average of consumption expenditures per household was 303,614 yen, down 7.3 percent on year.

    BoJ Expands Monetary Policy Stimulus Unexpectedly

    The Bank of Japan expanded its massive quantitative and qualitative easing unexpectedly as policymakers assessed it necessary to achieve the 2 percent inflation target even after a sales tax hike in April.     Japan Sep Labor Cash Earnings Growth Slows As Expected

    Total labor cash earnings in Japan grew at a slower rate as expected in September, a report from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare showed Wednesday.

    Total earnings increased 0.8 percent year-over-year in September following the revised 0.9 percent rise in August. This was in line with the consensus estimate.

    Contractual earnings climbed 0.6 percent after the revised 0.3 percent increase in August. Scheduled earnings rose 0.5 percent in September, faster than the revised 0.2 percent growth in the previous month.
