Watch Kendrick Lamar Weigh Peace, Violence in Striking 'Element' Video

Kendrick Lamar doles out punches and salvation in the new video for "Element," off his latest album, Damn.
Jonas Lindstroem co-directed the clip with the Little Homies, the duo of Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment President Dave Free.

The new video mimics the richly symbolic visual collage style of "Humble," though the "Element" video is less frenetic and relies more on striking slow-motion shots. The clip grapples with violence and comprises sequences in which a building burns, a father teaches his son to fight, a group of men shadowbox, police chase a suspect and even Lamar brawls with a pool cue and his fists. These harrowing shots, however, are countered with serene and religiously-themed images of nuns in habits, a couple alone in a bedroom and a young boy standing quietly in the pouring rain.

Chester Bennington, Linkin Park Singer, Dead at 41

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington died of an apparent suicide by hanging Thursday morning, according to AP. Police in Palos Verdes Estates, in Los Angeles County told TMZ that*the singer's body had been discovered just before 9 a.m. The singer was 41. A representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Bennington's screamed and emotional vocals provided a gritty counterpoint to co-frontman Mike Shinoda's raps on the group's nu-metal hits like "In the End" and "One Step Closer." He sang the poppy melodies on the band's recent hit "Heavy," which featured singer Kiiara and reached Number Two on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart and Number 11 on the Top 40. In addition to working with Linkin Park, he also fronted Stone Temple Pilots between 2013 and 2015 and the supergroups Dead by Sunday and Kings of Chaos.

    Quincy Jones Awarded $9.42 Million

Quincy Jones has been awarded $9.42 million ($9,423,695) after a trial that ended with a Los Angeles jury finding in the producer's favor in a royalties dispute with Michael Jackson's estate, Variety reports.

The lawsuit, which Jones filed in 2013, stemmed from Jones' claim that he was owed royalties for a series of projects that were released after Jackson died, including the music used in two Cirque du Soleil productions and music featured in the This Is It concert film. Jones said he was owed $30 million.

Metallica's final North American show will be live streamed

Metallica's final North American show in Edmonton, in Alberta, Canada, from this leg of their WorldWired tour will be live streamed on Wednesday, beginning around 10:45 p.m. ET. In support of last year's Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, the tour is the band's biggest trek yet and their first North American tour in eight years. It's also their first stadium run in almost two decades. It kicked off in May in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium.

"Not a lot of bands have been jumping from the middle to the top," Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone*when discussing their stadium run, citing U2 as his role model for how bands get bigger. "Guns N' Roses have been around for 30 years, AC/DC have been around 45, we've been around for 130 years – it's an odd thing. Sometimes it's like, 'Holy fuck, we're playing stadiums. What if somebody finds out that we shouldn't be playing stadiums?'"
