There was a shocker at the end of the 55th ACM Awards, the first tie for entertainer of the year (or any major category, for that matter) in the show’s history. The co-winners were Carrie Underwood, winning in the category for the third time, and Thomas Rhett, winning in the category for the first time.

Mac Davis, renowned for writing such hits as “In the Ghetto” and “A Little Less Conversation” for Elvis Presley, as well as commanding his own five-decade career that spanned the stage and big and small screen, died Tuesday night (Sept. 29) following heart surgery. He was 78.

A TV series based on Tegan and Sara’s High School — their memoir that traces the Quin sisters’ teenage years and the twins finding their respective voices both musically and through their personal journeys — is in the works, as Deadline reports.

Adapted from their memoir and written by Clea DuVall, the “coming-of-age comedy series” is in development at IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service. Executive produced by Tegan and Sara, DuVall and Plan B Entertainment, it’s set to “a backdrop of Nineties grunge and rave culture,” as the story “about finding your own identity” unfolds. DuVall is also tapped to direct the pilot.

Alex Trebek has died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The beloved Jeopardy! host, 80, was surrounded by family and friends as he passed away early on Sunday (Nov. 8), the game show announced in a tweet. Trebek first revealed his diagnosis to fans in March 31, and continued to work as he received treatments for cancer, maintaining positive throughout.

The Country Music Association’s 54th edition of its annual awards show will look different than all the previous years. For obvious reasons, no audience will be present at Nashville’s Music City Center on November 11th, but artists are still anticipated to be, if not seated together, than at least in the same room. That could change, however, as two scheduled performers — Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line and Lee Brice — have both tested positive for Covid-19. Needless to say, it’ll be an interesting year. The 2020 American Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Sunday, November 22nd on ABC beginning 8 p.m. EST/PST.

The year’s event — which will adhere to Covid-19 social distancing guidelines — features performances by Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber (both separate and together), Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, the Weeknd with Kenny G, Dua Lipa, Dan + Shay, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny with Jhay Cortez, Lil Baby, BTS and many more.

Viewers can watch the 2020 AMAs by switching to ABC on their television at 8 p.m. or via the network’s app or their website with a TV provider login. AT&T TV Now, Hulu With Live TV, YouTube TV and other live television streaming services can also provide access to ABC.

For almost two decades, Yo La Tengo have put on an annual eight-night Hanukkah concert series in New York City. This year, with pandemic restrictions still in place, the celebration will look a little different: On Friday, December 18th, the last night of Hanukkah 2020, the band will host a one-night-only livestream performance in celebration of the holiday.

Paul McCartney will reflect on his life and musical legacy during a roving conversation with producer Rick Rubin in an upcoming “documentary event.”

McCartney, who releases his McCartney III this Friday, shared the first teaser for the mysterious project, which features the Beatles legend and the famed producer discussing the Fab Four.
“We realized we were writing songs that were memorable, not because wanted them to be memorable, but because we had to remember them,” McCartney tells Rubin of the Beatles music.

Frankly, there aren't enough dance tracks that evoke the steamy feeling of the 1989 Chris Isaak classic "Wicked Game." South African star Black Coffee and a pair of heavyweight pals are here to amend that with "Never Gonna Forget You," a spacious house track built on a moody guitar lick Isaak would likely approve of, which sits beneath pretty, delicate layers of percussion and synth. Featuring Grammy-nominated vocalist/producer Elderbrook and Diplo -- showing up here in his underground-oriented Higher Ground persona -- "Never Gonna Forget" is the final single to drop because the Feb. 5 release of Black Coffee's forthcoming LP, Subconsciously.
