John Legend has just released a new single, "I know Better." The track comes off his forthcoming album, Darkness and the Light. The song deals with Legend's up and down career. The artist sings about mistakes he has made in the past regarding compromising his integrity for money. In the song, Legend sings, "They say sing what you know, but I've sung what they want . . ."

Legend told the Los Angeles Times, "If you follow me on Twitter, you know I have a point of view. I want to do the same with my art. I want to contribute to the conversation."

JoJo took to the stage of Good Day LA to perform her new song "Mad Love," the title track off of her recently released album, her first in ten years. The singer also sat down to talk about her legal battle with former record label Da Family Entertainment, which was the reason it took her so long to release a proper third album, and how she felt throughout the entire process.

The album features lead single "F**k Apologies."

Merle Haggard is soon to have music inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. His 1969 Vietnam War protest song, "Okie From Muskogee," will be immortalized at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. A selection of 25 songs will make the cut for the 2017 inductions. This will bring the collection to a total of 1,038 songs.

President and CEO Neil Portnow said in a press release, "The Grammy Hall of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which the Academy has become renowned. Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social and cultural history."

The-Dream took to Instagram to announce the release of his new EP, Love You To Death, with the hashtag #thedreamlives. The new EP will be out December 9. This will mark the first release for The-Dream since his short independent film, Genesis, which featured ten tracks. Since then nearly a year has passed, however, The-Dream was not remained idle in this time.

The-Dream's new EP will be released independently. The album will be released on the singer's own Radio Killa Records and Roc Nation.

Claude "Butch" Trucks, the drummer for and one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band, passed away on the evening of January 24 at the age of 69. He died in West Palm Beach, Florida. His cause of death is currently unknown.

J. Geils, the guitarist of the J. Geils Band, has passed away at the age of 71. Geils was found dead in his home in Groton, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 11. It is believed that he died of natural causes.

Seattle indie rockers the Head and the Heart are one of the best-traveled bands in America at the moment: in 2017 alone, they're playing Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and just about every other big-name festival in the country.




Those festivals might not even exist if the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival hadn't been a massive success. That festival, a blueprint for Woodstock and all that followed, marked the first time promoters realized fans would pay to see a long list of bands over the course of one weekend. (It helped that the weekend in question included iconic performances by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Who, and others.)

"I think the gravity of what we're about to do sunk in just now when we had a rehearsal with Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas," the Head and the Heart's singer-guitarist Jonathan Russell told Rolling Stone (inside the Levi’s Outpost lounge) on Sunday afternoon, shortly before the band's set at the festival's 50th anniversary. "You don't get too many chances to sing with legends like that. It's just an honor to be here."

The Doors have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Kendall and Kylie Jenner over the pair's controversial new line of T-shirts featuring the pair's faces superimposed over musicians including Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and Ozzy Osbourne. In one shirt, Kendall Jenner's face can be seen over the Doors' logo.

Billy McFarland, the beleaguered entrepreneur who co-organized the Fyre Festival debacle earlier this year, now faces a federal charge of wire fraud. The New York Times reports he was arrested on Friday and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, though, if convicted, the penalty would likely be less severe.
