PREFABRICATED Houses: Advantages and Disadvantages.

A) PREFABRICATED HOUSING is a modular house that is completely built in a warehouse or industrial workshop. Once finished, it is transported, in one piece or divided into a few parts, to the construction site. The only work done on the site is the foundation and/or the platform on which the house will rest.

B) On the other hand, the TRADITIONAL HOUSING is one of the most common constructions. It is the one we see most often, made of brick or concrete, built from scratch to the end on the same ground where it will be erected.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: There would be an intermediate option which would be the INDUSTRIALIZED HOUSING. Once manufactured, the different components or modules are transported to the construction site, where the different pieces are assembled until the house is completely finished.

I propose you to analyze both housing options from different points of view. This will be the key to help you make such an important decision.

1) Modular Homes or Custom Housing
Let's talk about the possibilities of customization.

The first thing that should be clear to us is that prefabricated houses, at least those that come already assembled, are usually chosen by catalog (modular houses). Buying a prefabricated house is the most similar to buying a car: they are mass-produced, that is, you will not have much freedom to make modifications or adjustments to your needs.

I do not include in this order the houses with wooden or steel skeletons (Wood or Steel Framing) since these are not prefabricated but industrialized houses. But if you yearn to live in a completely customizable house, or with a unique style, then traditional houses are your choice.
