The beer brewing process is fundamental and should be part of the evolution and learning of any brewer. Below we will describe the brewing process step by step, explaining the fundamental difference between Ale and Lager beers, depending on the type of fermentation that takes place. It is very likely that each producer will make his own modifications throughout the process, in order to obtain a beer with its own differentiated characteristics.

During malting, the cereal grains, usually barley, undergo a controlled germination process in order to activate the enzymes present in the grain, which will later be necessary during mashing. Depending on the degree of roasting obtained during malting, we will obtain lighter or darker malts, which will give the beer its color.
2 - Mashing and mashing
Once the cereal grain has been milled, it is time to mix it with water to prepare the brewing wort. Water is the major ingredient, representing between 85%-90% of the final beer content.
For the mashing process, the malt is mixed with the water at different times and temperatures, producing the necessary transformations to convert the starch into fermentable sugars.
3 - Wort filtration
After mashing, the liquid wort is separated from the malt residues. In both cases, the liquid is separated from the solid, the latter is called bagasse and is normally reused for animal feed.
4 - Boiling
The wort is brought to the boil in order to bring the bitterness and aroma present in the hops to the boil. In addition, during this stage the wort is sterilized, proteins are coagulated and undesirable aromas are evaporated. This process normally takes about an hour or more, depending on the style of beer being brewed. Subsequently, the final wort is subjected to a kind of centrifugation or whirpool.
