    Billie Joe Armstrong has thrown down against those who say that "rock is dead." During a recent interview with Rolling Stone he called the practice "absurd" and said rock and roll is a life force unto itself. "[That is] such a broad-stroke, absurd thing to say about any genre of music."

    Phil Collins has signed on to give a special performance at the U.S. Open. The performance will come on August 29 and Collins is reportedly set to play one song, his classic hit "In The Air Tonight." News of the performance came in an official statement by the U.S. Tennis Association. "The opening night ceremony will celebrate the new retractable roof built over Arthur Ashe Stadium."

In the new clip, Underwood, clad in a tight sparkly black dress, stands beneath a single spotlight and sings "Oh, Sunday night / Oh, Sunday night" to the tune of "Somethin' Bad" as shots of football stadium lights, players getting ready to take the field and cheering fans are interspersed.

    Coldplay offered up a cover of Bruce Springsteen's classic track "The Streets of Philadelphia" during their recent show in that city. The show took place at Lincoln Financial Field in the city of Brotherly Love and the cover marked the most recent in a string of tributes put on by Chris Martin and company.
