New AMD Notebook APUs Coming, Carrizo and Carrizo-L ETAs Exposed
Attachment 10062
Intel may still have most of the laptop market well in hand, but Advanced Micro Devices has some mobile accelerated processing units gloating around too. APUs that will make way for new ones soon enough.
It appears that the Sunnyvale, California-based company is serious about the decision it made a few years back, to not have its chips described as Intel CPU “foils.”
After all, with Intel having released the Core M mobile CPU, and prepared to launch other Broadwell units by the end of the year, this would be the point where AMD would make its counter-offer.
This isn't happening. Instead, Advanced Micro Devices has chosen March 2015 as the arrival date of its next-generation Accelerated Processing Units.
The AMD Carrizo APUs
Carrizo is the codename that the company uses to refer to the products, in-house. The APUs will replace the Kaveri APUs in March 2015.
Those will be the mid-range chips. As far as we can tell, AMD doesn't have any interest in the high-end market, so the Intel Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs will keep running rampant there.
There will be another batch of Carrizo though, which will be known as Carrizo-L and will replace the Beema and Mullins units. The Carrizo-L will supposedly debut in December this year, 2014.
The whole “we don't want our chips to be defined by the rivalry with Intel” bit still applies though, since the Carrizo-L will not be aimed at the Core M. Instead, they will challenge the Intel Pentium and Celeron processors.
The specifications of Carrizo
It's impossible to guess them at this stage, but just because we don't know the exact core counts, or even the model numbers, doesn't mean that we're completely in the dark.
According to some reports, all Carrizo APUs are built from Excavator cores and are fabricated on the 28nm production technology node. Also, they possess controllers for DDR3-2133 memory.
Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Ubuntu and SLED operating systems will be supported across the board, and you can even expect an ARM micro-core somewhere inside, handling the data security.
The number of design wins
This is something even harder to speculate on than the specifications themselves. AMD has had a pretty lame luck when it comes to OEMs, but maybe it will do better this time than it did with Beema/Mullins and everything else.
What remains is to wonder when and where AMD will unveil a true ARM-x86 combo processor. We only know it's in the works, nothing else.

Lenovo announces Yoga 3 Pro, successor to the best Windows laptop you can buy
A sleeker design and Intel's Broadwell processors come to Lenovo's convertible
Attachment 10154
Ask most people which is the best Windows laptop on the market today, and the answer you'll get will be near universal: Lenovo's Yoga 2 Pro. From top to bottom, it's perhaps the best convertible notebook you can buy. That's about to change: Lenovo has just announced the IdeaPad Yoga 3 Pro, and it's even sleeker than last year's model. The Yoga 3 Pro is 17 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter than the Yoga 2 Pro, a change that results in it "weighing less than a bottle of water" according to Lenovo's claims. That impressive 3200 x 1800 QHD+ display is still here — though hopefully without the color reproduction issues that plagued Yoga 2 Pro early on.
And since users will be flipping the Yoga 3 Pro into tablet or stand mode fairly often, Lenovo has improved upon the hinge design. This one features a "watchband" hinge that the company claims is "hand-assembled from more than 800 individual pieces of steel and aluminum" Can it match the fantastic, works-at-any-angle hinge that's in Microsoft's Surface Pro 3? We'll need one in-hand before making that call, but the company is promising better rigidity with the new design.
Everything's powered by Intel's latest Core M-70 processor. Yes, Broadwell chips are finally here, and Lenovo is promising up to nine hours of battery life. The Yoga 3 Pro will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of flash storage, though the model found in most stores will have a 256GB drive. And yes, this time it's coming with 5GHz 802.11ac Wi-Fi out of the gate. Spotty and unreliable Wi-Fi was another complaint that some users had about the Yoga 2 Pro (and there are plenty of support forum threads to show it), so hopefully this is another area where Lenovo has made some refinements. The Yoga 3 Pro be available starting at $1,349 from Lenovo's web store and Best Buy at the end of October in three colors: silver, orange, and gold.

Modular Smartwatches Are One Step Closer to Reality As Blocks Opens Up Pre-Orders
Attachment 10217
Google is trying to build modular smartphones with the Ara project, but you can’t deny it would be massively cool if the same concept could be applied to other devices, like smartwatches.
The company behind the project has just announced it was setting up an exclusive membership program that will allow 1,000 interested parties to pre-order the first version of the modular Blocks watch for the cheapest price possible.
BGR reports that, starting October 15, Blocks will begin the pre-ordering process and you can register for a smartwatch by pledging $50 / €39, which will get you a limited edition fascia for the blocks and priority shipment.
Blocks’ plan is to start a crowd-funding campaign in early 2015, so you will have to wait quite a while until you can actually enjoy the device’s capabilities. We suppose you’re going to be lucky to have the watch in your possession by mid-2015.
When the watch launches, it is going to cost a lot more; so if your mind is committed to Blocks, you should take advantage of the limited time offer.
Furthermore, we’re told core blocks – the touchscreen, display, microprocessor and Bluetooth chip – will be priced anywhere between $120 to $150 / €94 to €118. Additional blocks will come with a varying cost of $20 to $40 / €16 to €32.
Blocks won Intel's Wearable challenge
Blocks always revealed it was the recipient of Intel’s "Make It Wearable" challenge, so it has been awarded a prize of $50k / €39k. Now the company will go on to compete for the even grander prize of $500,000 / €395,000.
For those of you who don’t remember what Blocks is all about and don’t understand all the fuss around it, let us explain.
Blocks wants to allow buyers to customize their smartwatch to suit their lifestyles and activities. So if you’re a big fan of workouts, you will want something that’s more lightweight around your wrist and is packed with activity-tracking sensors; but if you’re a business person, you will opt for a more premium look.
With this intent in mind, Blocks will offer custom swappable blocks that make up the strap, each one capable of completing a specific task, multiple display options (including LCD, E-Ink or touch display) and a choice between a variety of sensors.
The best part is that Blocks will continue to refresh its offerings in order to keep up with the market trends, so if a new type of smartwatch display technology appears, you’ll be sure to find it at Blocks.

Google Nexus 6 with Android Lollipop Officially Introduced, on Pre-Order from October 29
Attachment 10230
Google has finally taken the wraps off its newest Android flagship smartphone, the Nexus 6. As expected, the smartphone will be powered by the latest version of Google's mobile platform, which is called Android Lollipop.
It appears that Google successfully secured the Nexus 6 name after all, even though previous rumors suggested that the company faced some issues on the matter.
Along with the Nexus 6 announcement, Google also introduced the new version of Android, namely Lollipop, as well as the Nexus 9 tablet manufactured by HTC.
As expected, the Nexus 6 has been especially released by Google to fill a gap in its offering. Until today, the search giant did not have any device that could compete with other flagship phablet launched by other handset makers.
Nexus 6 is Google's alternative to Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Apple's iPhone 6 Plus, as well as other phablets in the same price range.
Google new flagship smartphone boasts a huge 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 496ppi (pixel per density).
On the inside, the device is armed with a powerful 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Krait 450 processor, an Adreno 440 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.
There will be two Nexus 6 variants available for purchase via Google Play Store, 32GB and 64GB. Neither of these versions will come with microSD card slot, but this was to be expected.
Google's phablet seems to be a US affair for the moment
The Nexus 6 also packs an impressive 13-megapixel f/2.0 photo snapper on the back, which features dual-LED flash, autofocus and video recording. There's also a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera, which indicates that Google isn't too fond of selfie smartphones yet.
According to Google, the Nexus 6 will be powered by a 3,220 mAh non-removable battery, which supports Turbo Charging. This will provide users with up to 6 hours of use after only 15 minutes of charging.
The company also confirmed that the Nexus 6 should definitely offer 24 hours of usage, though it's unclear under what conditions.
Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order in the United States beginning October. All major carriers in the country will offer the smartphone, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular.
The SIM free 32GB variant will be available for purchase via Google Play Store for $649 (€510) outright. Pre-order are scheduled to start on October 29 and shipping should commence in early November.
No word on price tag for the 64GB model, but we do know Nexus 6 will come in two different color options: Midnight Blue and Cloud White.

Google announces HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet, coming November 3rd
Attachment 10231
Prices start at $399, and you can pre-order beginning October 17th
Google has just announced the Nexus 9, an Android 5.0 tablet that the company designed in collaboration with HTC. Pre-orders will begin on October 17th and you can expect the tablet to start showing up in stores on November 3rd. Nexus 9 is available in either black or white and comes in three configurations: 16GB for $399, 32GB for $479, and an LTE-enabled 32GB model for $599. Sadly, you can't expand that storage through microSD, so we'd recommend opting for the 32GB SKU. (The LTE version and a "sand" color won't be released until "later this year.")
Google's planning to launch Nexus 9 in 29 countries over the coming weeks. In the US, it'll be sold through Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, Google Play, Office Depot, Office Max, QVC/HSN, Radio Shack, Staples, and Walmart. US wireless carriers including T-Mobile will also carry it directly; the Uncarrier will kick off sales November 12th according to this tweets.
As with most HTC-manufactured products, the Nexus 9 features a premium metal build (at least on the sides) and an 8.9-inch QVGA (2048x1536) display. That screen has a ratio of 4:3 as opposed to 16:9, and HTC has also brought its BoomSound speaker technology to this tablet. Google is also emphasizing what's powering the hardware here: a 64-bit processor — the first for a Nexus product. More specifically, it's Nvidia's Tegra K1 chipset. The device also features 2GB of RAM and, on average, around 9 hours of battery life.
Google says this form factor is "small enough to easily carry around in one hand, yet big enough to work on." And there's a real focus on productivity here: Google is also releasing a keyboard attachment that "magnetically attaches to the Nexus 9, folds into two different angles and rests securely on your lap like a laptop." So all at once, Google and HTC are going after both the Microsoft Surface and the huge number of consumers who seek aftermarket keyboards for Apple's iPad line. The Nexus 9 certainly isn't cheap — especially compared to Amazon's cutthroat pricing — but seems like a solid piece of hardware meant to fully showcase Android L's work and play capabilities.

New Alienware Area 51, Advance Gaming PC with Hefty Price
Attachment 10485
It Costs $1,699 / €1,699 but considering its size, it packs some really good hardware.
Alienware, a brand owned by Dell, is known for its high-end computers that also look really good, but most of them have a problem in the price department, costing a fair bit more than some stronger but only slightly less embellished PCs. That's not the case for the Area-51 though.
Attachment 10484
In a way, the Alienware brand has justification for the prices its products demand. The desktop and laptop PCs are smaller than most others on the gaming front after all, and it takes a certain inventiveness to get everything to fit and run at manageable temperatures.
Looked at it that way, the tag of $1,699 / €1,699 is pretty reasonable, both because of and in spite of the size of the case.
The chassis would qualify as a mini tower under the right circumstances, but it's not really shaped as one. Instead, it's more of an irregular hexagon.
The shape was quite important, since it provided that little extra space needed to cram everything essential to a PC and still keep everything the same height as a normal monitor.
Attachment 10486
Launched along with the Alienware 13 gaming laptop, the PC is powered by a six-core or 8-core Intel Extreme Edition Core i7 central processing unit.
A 6-core chip is the “basic” choice, but the best configuration demands the Core i7-5960X Unlocked 8-Core Processor which can reach 4.0 GHz with Turbo Boost.
For graphics, you can cram up to three AMD Radeon 290X or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards inside the small case, or a pair of NVIDIA GeForces Titan Z Graphics (for quad-GPU via SLI).
For memory, there is support for 32 GB of DDR4 quad-channel RAM clocked at 2,133 MHz. Furthermore, storage comes courtesy of a SATA III 6.0 Gbps SSD (up to 512 GB) and an HDD (4 TB).
Add to that Killer Gigabit Ethernet NIC LAN, Intel 802.11ac dual-band Wireless WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 and you're all set for a few years. Microsoft's Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit operating system runs everything.
As for the case itself, it owes its unusual size and internal architecture to the Triad industrial design, which focuses on thermal management and ergonomics according to the press release.
Both front and rear ports are easy to access, while people who love to customize their PCs themselves can use any of the front and rear ports to remove or change whatever parts of the PC they wish.
Availability
Orders of the Alienware Area 51 should become possible through the Alienware website over the course of today (October 28, 2014), if they haven't already started. Some countries might not be covered by the shipping service before the winter holidays though. Obviously, to get the best options like above, you'll have to shell out more than the starting price, but that's the same as everywhere else.

Motorola DROID Turbo Officially Unveiled in the US, on Sale from October 30 for $200
Attachment 10492
As expected, Verizon and Motorola have taken the wraps off the DROID Turbo, the new flagship smartphone that was initially known as Nexus 6.
Apparently Google chose to go with a phablet instead of the 5.2-inch Nexus 6 and let customers who prefer small-screen smartphones get the Nexus 5 as an alternative to the new model.
Anyway, Verizon customers will now have the choice of getting a smaller version of the Nexus 6, as the new DROID Turbo packs the same hardware inside except for the screen.
It runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat at launch, but is eligible for Lollipop
It’s also worth mentioning that the DROID Turbo will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box rather than Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Speaking of which, Verizon has announced that Motorola DROID Turbo will be available for purchase beginning October 30 for only $200 (€157) on 2-year agreements.
Additionally, customers can also get the high-end smartphones for $25 (€20) per month using Verizon’s Edge early upgrade program.
The price for the 64GB model has been set to $250 (€195) on two-year contracts or $27 (€21) per month on Verizon Edge. This particular version will be available in Black Ballistic Nylon color option, while the 32GB variant should go on sale in Metallic Black, Metallic Red, and Black Ballistic Nylon.
Verizon has a few more offers for those who want to purchase the new Motorola DROID Turbo, such as a discount of $100 (€78) or more when you trade in your old smartphone with new two-year activation.
Also, from launch until end of the year, upgrade and activation fees are being waived for all customers who purchase the DROID Turbo.
According to Verizon, those who buy the DROID Turbo and damage the screen during their 2-year agreement will be able to replace it once for free.
Hardware-wise, it's a mini version of Google's Nexus 6 phablet
Moving on to specs, the DROID Turbo sports a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, and 3GB of RAM.
On the back, the smartphone boasts an impressive 21-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera that can capture full HD (1080p) video.
Motorola DROID Turbo packs either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, but lacks microSD card slot for memory expansion. The handset is powered by a huge 3,990mAh battery that’s compatible with Motorola’s Turbo charger.
It’s also worth mentioning that Verizon has confirmed that Motorola DROID Turbo is eligible for an Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade, though no additional details have been shared yet.

The New Samsung Galaxy S6: both sides would be curved
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...Galaxy-S-6.jpg
Rumors accumulate around the Galaxy S6 and begin to seriously diverge. We would now have right to a single model which both sides would be curved.
Two Galaxy S6, including an Edge version? Actually no, if we are to believe the sources described as “reliable” the Italian HDblog site which has already had some information in preview in the past.
The “Edge” of the future flaship would actually be the only model presented by Samsung. Unlike Galaxy Note Edge, both sides of the smartphone would be curved, but less clearly on the Edge Note to not assign the holding in hand of the machine explains the site. The thing would more suit both right-handed and left-handed people.
Aluminium?
Moreover, and this is an equally important novelty, the chassis of the phone would be carved from a single block of aluminum. It is a recurrent rumor but it becomes a bit more credible this year with the arrival of the Alpha Galaxy, which has however that borders aluminum, the rear side remaining plastic.
However a problem it should be noted before taking this rumor for cash: the use of this material involves no doubt some supply difficulties, and the applies also to the curved screen. Samsung already having trouble enough plates for his Note Edge – out yet a small series – how the firm will be able to produce millions of copies of S6?
Samsung would however a little time to it since the Italians assert that the smartphone will be presented during the second quarter, a date a more credible than that of these advanced yesterday.

Google’s 3D-sensing Project Tango is no longer an experiment
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...ject-Tango.jpg
Yet another project is graduating from experiment to proper part of Google. Only two weeks ago, Glass left the confines of the Skunk Works-like Google X and became its own division headed up by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell. Now Project Tango, the 3D-sensing and -mapping concept, is moving on from the ATAP (Advanced Technology and Projects) labs to become a part of the company proper. Unfortunately what that means for the technology or what products it might eventually end up in isn’t exactly clear. Will the next Nexus sport a depth-sensing IR camera? Maybe. Or perhaps they’ll be used to build more advanced home automation and home monitoring tools for Nest. All we do know is that Tango will live on, even if the name “Project Tango” eventually fades away.

Sony unveils new Xperia smartphone
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...eria-phone.jpg
Sony unveils its new smartphone in Japan, Sony said the Xperia Z4 would be available in Japan around the middle of the year, though it did not provide a launch date, details on carrier partners or price. The handset would be available in four colours and was slightly thinner than the previous Z3.
Sony Corp on Monday unveiled a new high-end Xperia handset featuring an aluminium frame and a 5.2-inch screen, showing it is still in the smartphone race even as it scales down its struggling mobile operations. metal frame, support for Hi-Res audio and the same wide-angle 25mm lens on the main camera. Upgrades since last year’s model include a frame that’s both thinner (down to under 7 mm) and lighter, while camera upgrades are focused on the front, which now gets the same wide-angle lens of the primary shooter as well as digital image stabilization to keep your selfie game completely on point.

This fake Apple Watch Edition looks like the real deal. Photo: The Time Preserve
Casey Neistat showed us a brilliant way to turn your cheapo Apple Watch into a luxurious gold Edition, but if you’d like to make your fake Edition look just like the real thing, you can now get it gold plated for a fraction of the cost of Katy Perry’s.
The Time Preserve watch restoration company promises to match the exact yellow and rose color tones of Jony Ive’s custom gold, thanks to custom-formulated gold electroplating. It’s not as cheap as a can of gold spray point, but for just $650, they’ll add a 5 to 6 micron-thick coat of gold to any Apple Watch with the Leather, Modern Buckle, or Sport band.
The company posted a picture of what it claims is the world’s first gold-plated Apple Watch on its Instagram page:
Attachment 13199
Prices for Apple Watch gold-plating cost between $650 – $875, depending on which band you have. That price obviously doesn’t include the price of the actual Stainless Steel watch, which you have to provide. Unfortunately, the process doesn’t work on the Sport’s aluminum body, but if you want something even super flashy, they also have options for Rhodium, Platinum, Palladium, and Ruthenium.

Can an Apple watch read your mind?
Attachment 13715
If you buy this generation of Apple watch, you are making a statement about your willingness to shape the future. You might not be convinced of the functionality or the capabilities which the watch offers -- yet you understand that the future is about wearables.
The shift is both a technological trajectory from desktops to laptops to mobile/tablets to wearables and a shift from connected devices to a connected world driven by the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technologies. These shifts have profound impacts on consumer behavior and behavioral economics.
Consumer decisions in these models are deemed irrational, driven by emotion, and easily influenced. Tactics formed from social psychology like priming activate subconscious emotional associations consumers have with products. Olfactory marketing (using appealing scents to create a positive branding) rapidly targets our primitive brain centers of emotion and memory to shorten the time you think you are waiting in line or to encourage buying behaviors.
Attachment 13716
Facereading decisions
Neuromarketing accesses our psychophysiological emotional indicators like biometrics or facereading seeking our implicit associations. Any or all of these techniques, when well executed, can have a significant impact on the growth and reach of brands. All are impacted by the emergence of wearable technologies augmenting human experience and decision-making.
Our research at the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) at Goldsmiths, University of London with global media agency Mindshare: SHIFT 2015 looked at consumer engagement with wearables and defining what 'need states' wearables technology can fulfill.
Why consumers make certain choices
Need states are context-dependent triggers that lead to the choice of a particular brand. Crucially need states are not interested in 'why' a consumer makes a particular choice but instead questions like 'when', 'where', or 'how' that relate to behavior, context, and emotion instead of attitude or rational choice.
To identify these need states we worked intensely with 14 UK consumers experimenting with and simulating the potential future intersections of wearable technologies and brands ranging from smart watches, fashion, fitness and lifestyle bands, wearable cameras, and mood tracking. We interviewed technical subject-matter-experts in data, privacy, advertising, and futurism. And we conducted a quantitative survey of UK consumers. The findings illustrate six key need states fulfilled by wearables -- flow, reflection, affinity, performance, value exchange, and self-expression.
Opportunities for consumers to learn through data
There is tremendous fatigue with the frictions introduced into social life by the current generation of mobile technologies. Technologies and brands that enhance flow will succeed.
Reflection draws upon the heritage of wearables in the quantified self movement and identifies opportunities for consumers to learn about themselves through the data and identify pathways to self-improvement. This is not always desirable.
There is nothing more important to people than their self-image and we will turn off anything that damages our self-esteem. It is crucial that these reflections run in the background, not holding up a cracked mirror for reflection but instead nudging us by for example suggesting feel-good films when we get home from work correlated to our anxious mood tracking on a wearable. Affinity can be either very intimate like sending a hug through a hug shirt or squeezing a partner's wrist virtually when you get notice that they are having a tough day from their wearable emotional index. Or distant but connected experiences like all the shirts in the stadium glowing red in collective euphoria as the ball hits the back of the net. These little or grand gestures can help people keep their mind open and to resist what Freud called the "narcissism of small differences". Performance opens up opportunities for banks to 'coach' consumers in the financial management of cashless payments or building retailers supporting DIY tasks through a heads-up display. Branded utility like this puts content instead of advertising at the heart of marketing and consumer engagement.
What's the value of the data
The need state of Value Exchange perhaps most compellingly frames the complexity of the issues of human psychology linked with wearable sensors. Consider the question -- would you share your sleep data with a retailer? In our experiments participants continually questioned and negotiated the value of their data. Concerns about privacy were matched by positive responses to personalized offers. One example is offering sleep patterns to a beauty products vendor so they can map your sleep to the perfect skin moisturizer for your patterns. Self Expression need state is about understanding the paradox of the means. Sometimes the means are a means to an end and sometimes the means is the end. Which explains why people are buying this generation of Apple Watch and not waiting for the next generation of watch, like I am.

Tablets That Makes Working Great Fun
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...Nd_tablets.jpg
Gadgets are an inseparable part of our lifestyle. We need a constant companion to help us complete our many tasks on the go and that constant companion is the ‘tablet’. Given below are a few tablets that are considered to be the best and their specifications:

With a wide range of tablets that befits every need and every pocket, it is no wonder that everyone now owns a tablet.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Goes on Sale Worldwide
Attachment 13914
Sony introduced the Xperia M4 Aqua back in March and promised the smartphone will go on sale sometime in June. Last month we reported the smartphone is available for purchase, but only on carrier contracts.
However, beginning this week, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is available for purchase worldwide through multiple major retailers. The pricing options depend on the region, so there's a chance that you can get the Xperia M4 Aqua cheaper if you live in the right region.
Speaking of which, the smartphone is now available for purchase in the United States via Amazon for $400 (€360 / £260) outright. On the other hands, customers in the UK can grab the Xperia M4 Aqua for £230 (€315 / $350).
European customers can also order the Xperia M4 Aqua for around €280 (£205 / $310) via Amazon Germany. In India, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Dual is available for $390 (£255 / €350) off contract.
Obviously, customers will be able to grab the Xperia M4 Aqua for much less if they are willing to sign up for a new 2-year agreement with their favorite carrier.
It doesn't come cheap, but features quite decent specs
Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is a rugged smartphone that features IP68 certification, which makes it dust and water proof up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.
The smartphone ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box and sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.
When it comes to hardware, the Xperia M4 Aqua doesn't disappoint. The smartphone is equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
Other highlights of the phone include 13-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as 5-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

LG's 4K monitor is first with AMD's game-enhancing FreeSync
Attachment 14012
LG will be the first to sell a 4K monitor with AMD FreeSync technology, beating models from rival Samsung by a nose. The technology in its 27-inch 27MU67 is similar to NVIDIA's G-Sync, matching monitor and GPU refresh rates to eliminate tearing, stutter and other gaming issues -- as long as you have a compatible AMD graphics card or chip. Like Samsung, LG makes its own panels and it shows in the specs. The IPS screen can run at 40 to 60fps with 9.7 milliseconds of input lag, while being decent for color pros with a 99 percent Adobe gamut and 10-bit interpolated color. It'll come calibrated out of the box later this month at select retailers for $599 -- quite a drop in price from last year.

The Best Smart Watch in the World
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...tches_2015.jpg
The technically astute people at PC Advisor recently published an article titled 15 best smartwatches 2015 UK: The best wearable tech you can buy right now. They are certainly to be commended, not only for their commitment to providing useful, objective technical information and analyses, but also for their subtlety in acknowledging that the product type is in its infancy, and offers more in the way of future promise than present utility.
Particularly amusing is their comparison of the smart watch of today to the wristwatch of the late 1800s. When wristwatches were first invented, they saved gentlemen from having to dig into their pockets to determine what time it was. Similarly, the smart watch shows the time, but also saves the modern gentleman or lady from the inconvenience of having to rummage around in pocket, purse, or satchel and hoist a quarter-pound slab up to within their field of vision to see who is calling or texting, or what they had wanted to remind themselves about. Of course, if the watch is telling you that you have an incoming call, you will then need to rummage around in pocket, purse, or satchel and hoist a quarter-pound slab up to answer the call, hopefully before the calling party hangs up or their call goes to voicemail.
Since websites such as PC Advisor have done such a fine job of reviewing the smartwatches available to them, to the notable exception of the Apple Watch, which was released after the review was published (but is reviewed elsewhere), we won’t be going into the dazzle, functionality, or features currently available. Instead, let’s have a look at the things that are absent from today’s smart watches, but that many potential buyers would love to see.
Make input more useful, and the display more readable – The keyboard on even the largest of new smartphones is still better suited to individuals with fingers the size of chopsticks than those with which the rest of the human race is equipped. And unless you are a twenty-something with better than perfect vision, reading the text on a smart watch is, at best, a challenge. To make matters worse, the display is more character-limited than a tweet, so…
There have been a few different approaches to solving both these problems, such as that seen on the Cicret wristband, a bracelet that uses your wrist as a larger (but rather crude) display and an equally crude keyboard. The result is that you wear an accessory to your smart phone that attempts (poorly) to compensate for the shortcomings in your smart watch, which is also an accessory to your smartphone. Some might call this progress…
I want my smart watch to be more than a smartphone accessory – For all their wondrous capabilities, smart watches of today are really little more than external displays and rather cumbersome input devices for smartphones. Forget to bring your smartphone along, and your smart watch becomes significantly less smart. Perhaps smart watches might one day be fully-functional standalone devices, capable of making calls, scheduling reminders, and exchanging text and graphical information with others, all without the inconvenience of reaching into that pocket, purse, or satchel. Imagine being able to walk down the street or sit at your table at dinner, and be able to check the Tokyo Exchange and text with your workmates. How much more convenient it would be to be able to ignore your dinner date without having to drag that smartphone out and leave it on the table, a veritable invitation to theft.

Amazon to Release $50 Tablet as It Struggles to Sell Pricier Devices
Amazon.com Inc. has struggled to draw customers to its pricier tablets. So it’s going further down-market.
The Seattle online retailer plans to release a $50 tablet with a 6-inch screen, in time for this year’s holidays, according to people familiar with the matter. That would make it one of the least-expensive tablets on the market and half the price of the company’s current Fire HD 6-inch tablet.
The move would potentially attract buyers looking for a simple—and effectively disposable—device for straightforward tasks like streaming video at home and shopping on Amazon.com. But such inexpensive tablets typically come with compromises like inferior screen quality, durability or battery life in comparison to more expensive tablets like Amazon’s larger Fire tablets and industry-leading devices like Apple Inc. ’s iPad. For instance, the $50 device will have a mono speaker, rather than stereo, one of the people said.
The $50 device is part of a slate Amazon is planning to release this year that will also include tablets with 8-inch and 10-inch screens, according to the people familiar.
“Will people tolerate a potentially inferior experience just because a tablet is $50?” said Frank Gillett, a Forrester Research analyst. “Amazon has to be very careful about what they’re giving up to get to that low price point.”

NEW YORK—In addition to the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft has unveiled another brand-new PC today. The Microsoft Surface Book is Microsoft's first-ever convertible laptop, and it looks like it's aimed at people who are intrigued by the Surface Pro 4 but aren't interested in a tablet.
The laptop has a 13.5-inch, 3000×2000 PixelSense touchscreen with 6 million pixels, and it includes an Intel Skylake processor and a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GPU with GDDR5 memory. It also has PCI Express-connected solid-state storage. Microsoft claims it's the "fastest 13-inch laptop anywhere on any planet," a statement that we don't have the means to confirm, and that it's "two times more powerful" than the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The Surface Book's screen detaches from the base to function as a standalone tablet, and like the Surface Pro 4, it works with a Surface Pen that can be docked magnetically along the top of the screen. The dedicated GPU is in the base of the Book, and it will switch to the Skylake integrated GPU when the screen is detached—if you want all of the GPU power, you'll have to have the laptop docked.
If you want that GPU power in a form factor that's still relatively tablet-y, Microsoft has equipped the Surface Book with a "dynamic fulcrum hinge" that bends at multiple points. The hinge lets you flip the screen a full 360 degrees to lie flat against the bottom, though unfortunately it won't let the laptop fully close when in clamshell mode.
The base of the laptop includes a backlit keyboard with 1.6mm key travel and a glass trackpad with 5-point multitouch, and there are two USB 3.0 ports and a full-size SD card slot. Microsoft claims the Book has 12-hour battery life.
The Surface Book starts at $1,499 and is available for pre-order today. It will start shipping on October 26. UK and European pricing isn't yet known. We'll find out more information about the exact specs of that model (and any higher-end models) as soon as we can.

Nexus 5X in Review: Cheaper, smaller, better
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...10/nexus5x.jpg
Google and LG may have landed with the Nexus and Nexus 5X 6P a surprise hit – the reviews in tech magazines are almost entirely thrilled. So also the test of our colleague Nicole Lee of Engadget US: For only $ 380 (for the 16 GB version), she writes, you get a surprisingly good phone for outstanding price / performance ratio.
You verdict: 88 out of 100 points. Speak for the cell phone be more favorable price, the fast and accurate fingerprint scanner, the fantastic Android 6 “marshmallow” and the – irrelevant in Germany – compatible with Google Fi network. Poor are only the mediocre battery life and the lack of a microSD card slot. The display is good, the camera ok.

Microsoft Surface Book Review
Lisa Gade reviews Microsoft’s first laptop, the Surface Book. Like Surface Pro 4, it’s also a tablet, but it’s designed to be a laptop first, with a traditional laptop feel and design. The 13.5” Surface Book has a striking 3000 x 2000 PixelSense display that supports both touch and pen via the included N-Trig pen with eraser. The “clipboard” as Microsoft calls it, or tablet section separates from the fulcrum hinge for solo use. There’s a battery in the tablet and another in the keyboard base, and that base also houses the optional custom NVIDIA dedicated GPU. The Surface Book’s casing is magnesium alloy and it weighs 3.48 lbs. (1.6 lbs for tablet only). It has a backlit keyboard, dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, a rear 8MP camera and a front 5MP that works with Windows Hello facial recognition. It’s available with dual core, 6th generation Skylake 15 watt Ultrabook CPUs and 8 or 16 gigs of RAM. It uses fast PCIe SSD drives (128, 256, 512 gig and 1TB capacities available). It’s a classy machine and an expensive one that sells for $1,500 to $3,000 depending on configuration. We look at the $2,100 model with Core i7-6600U 2.6 GHz CPU, 8 gigs of RAM, a 256 gig SSD and NVIDIA graphics.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Review
Lisa Gade reviews the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the tablet that can also be a laptop. The Surface Pro 4 weighs 1.73 lbs. and is 0.33 inches thick. It’s cooler and quieter than previous generations thanks to a new cooling design, and it has a slightly larger display (12.3”) while maintaining the same footprint as Surface Pro 3 (12”). The tablet runs Windows 10 Pro on Intel 6th generation Skylake CPUs, with your choice of Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors with Intel integrated graphics. The Core m model has a fanless design. The Surface Pro 4 is available with 4, 8 or 16 gigs of RAM and 128, 256, 512 gig and 1 TB PCIe SSDs. It has a 2736 x 1824 IPS PixelSense display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It supports touch and the included N-Trig digital pen with eraser, and the updated digitizer has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity. Dual band Marvel Avastar WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, a front 5MP camera that supports Windows Hello facial recognition and a rear 8MP camera are standard on all models. We review it with the Surface ProType Cover 4 and the optional $199 Surface Dock. We use the Core i5-6300U model and the Core m3-6Y30 in the review, and compare their performance. The Surface Pro 4 starts at $899 and the Type Cover 4 is an additional $129 ($159 with fingerprint scanner).

Microsoft Lumia, Lumia 950 XL, Review Roundup, Lumia 950 XL Review Microsoft Lumia 950 XL Review Roundup: Does The Windows 10 Phablet Rise Up To Expectations?
http://i-cdn.phonearena.com/images/a...ccessories.jpg
Microsoft caused quite a stir and impressed no less when it came back into the flagship smartphone race with the Lumia 950 and the device's bigger brother, the Lumia 950 XL.
Here are the best and the worst aspects of the new Lumia 950 XL, the first phablet to run Microsoft's latest Windows 10 Mobile out of the box.
Design
If you ignore the slightly different camera housing at the back of the device, Lumia 950 XL is a scaled-up version of the Lumia 950. The knobs for volume, lock and camera shutter sit in a familiar way along the right side of the phone. Lumia 950's USB Type-C was borrowed as well, and can be found at the bottom of the device.
Except for the Gorilla Glass 4 on the display, the rest of the device is made of grippy polycarbonate. The material feels good and allows the device to sit firmly in one's hand.
"Perhaps this model was focused on specs rather than the build, allowing it to be affordable enough to reach more people," Luke Edwards, at Pocket-Lint observed.

"Perhaps this model was focused on specs rather than the build, allowing it to be affordable enough to reach more people," Luke Edwards, at Pocket-Lint observed.
Display and Battery
The sharp and well commended screen of the Lumia 950 XL is a QHD AMOLED, sporting a staggering 518 ppi.
"It was impossible for me to discern any pixels from a normal distance. Plus, thanks to the choice of panel tech, the screen was saturated with deep reds and blacks, but not overtly so," Joe Osborne of Tech Radar explained.
Microsoft diverged from the rival flagships' methods of having fixed power sources and implemented a removable, potent 3,340 mAh battery into the Lumia 950 XL. It is probably the business community that will most appreciate this feature, even more so due to the wireless charging capability.
Camera
The main camera is a 20 MP shooter which can take detailed photos even in low light conditions. It does so using the triple LED flash, optical image stabilization, and Zeiss optics. The selfie snapper from the front of the Lumia 950 XL has 5 MP and a wide-angle option. Both cameras can capture video footage, with the rear cam at 4K and the front one at 1,080p.
"The 20.7-megapixel cameras initially appeared to be slow, until I realized they were able to take perfectly sharp photos even before they appeared to lock in focus," Sascha Segan, lead mobile analyst at PC Mag said.
Specs
On paper, the specs of the Lumia 950 XL are similar in many ways to the ones found on the Lumia 950.
The Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor may be marginally better than the Snapdragon 808 from the tinier model, but the true difference will come from the liquid cooling technology. Microsoft borrowed it from the Surface tablet computer, and it proudly stated what all hardware enthusiasts agree upon: a cooler device works faster and better.
With Windows 10 Mobile as support to the full array of Microsoft Office software and with Continuum bringing the PC experience through the Lumia 950 XL, cooling the device is a high priority for productivity.
Behind the Snapdragon 810 there are 3 GB of RAM, putting the Lumia 950 XL toe-to-toe with top-end rival phablets such as the Galaxy S6 Edge+ from Samsung.
The default storage space is 32 GB, but the microSD slot allows for expansion up to 2 TB, so this makes the Windows Lumia 950 XL very future-proof.
Software
Continuum is a very functional tool that helps busy people jump between Windows 10 devices, which is good news for those working on the go.
The pull down menu offers quick selection tiles, allowing fast access to Settings, Flashlight, Wi-Fi and more. The Cortana virtual assistant is there to aid, and the accurate word recognition can really win some precious minutes while the hands are busy.
For now, the biggest software limitation for the Lumia 950 XL is the lack of dedicated apps. The Windows 10 Mobile OS still needs some time to catch up with iOS and Android targeted applications, and that could be a deal-breaker for some.
"There's still a huge gap in decent available apps – so don't expect to see every app you can get on Android or iOS. Also, be aware of the malware masquerading as the official apps roaming the Windows app store," Jay McGregor, a contributor at Forbes, pointed out.
Availability
Signs from the U.S. carriers are less than positive for Microsoft, as AT&T declared that it will support the Lumia 950, but not the Lumia 950 XL.
"The fact that LG could get three carriers onboard for its V10 announcement and Microsoft couldn't summon a single one for its make-or-break, flagship device speaks volumes," PC Mag's Segan noted.
Conclusion
Microsoft advertised its $649 Lumia 950 XL as a PC-simulating, getting-work-done kind of device, and the phablet accomplishes that thanks to the Windows 10 Mobile and Continuum implementations. The display, a generous 5.7 inches of powerful resolution, also helps users be more productive.
Aside from having a big screen to visualize your work in progress, Microsoft equipped the phone with serious hardware. A big kudos goes to the aforementioned liquid cooling method, which keeps all the roaring specs under the hood stable and running lightning-fast.
Based on the Lumia 950 XL, Microsoft's return to the battle of the phablets will probably bring more positive surprises in the future.

ASUS Zen AiO Pro PCs tout performance in style
http://o.aolcdn.com/hss/storage/mida...enFone-AiO.jpg
The back of an all-in-one PC, just like the back of a monitor, is something you hardly always see (unless you have an open desk, that is). And yet ASUS has lavished as much attention to this side of the Zen AiO Pro as much as other details of the PC. Flaunting the OEM's somewhat iconic hairline finish, claimed to have been applied painstakingly by hand, the Zen AiO Pro exudes an amount of elegance you don't always see in its device class. Luckily, its beauty isn't only skin deep.
AIO PCs aren't always the top choice among PCs when it comes to performance, mostly because of their laptop-like inability to be upgraded when it comes to CPU and GPU. But ASUS reassures that there is nothing to worry about, as the Zen AiO Pro comes with power out of the box, with a choice between a 6th gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. To pair with that, it also has a discrete NVIDIA GTX 950M or 960M, the laptop variant of the graphics cards. It's not going to do wonders for hardcore gaming, but it could very well suffice for some.
Processing speed isn't the only forte of this AIO. The Zen AiO Pro also flaunts fast data read and write speeds. Or at least for one configuration. At the highest tier, the PC makes use of a 512 GB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, claimed to be one of the fastest combinations in the SSD market. And when internal storage is no longer enough, the Zen AiO Pro has a Type-C USB port compatible with USB 3.1, which doubles the bandwidth supported by USB 3.0.
There are four models for the Zen AiO Pro, each with its own intended use case and, of course, price. At the lowest rung is the Z240-C1, which carries a Core i5-6400T, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 950M, and a Full HD non-touch display. A step higher is the Z240-C3 which adds Intel's RealSense camera to the package, to be used for motion gestures and future support of face recognition security. With the Z240-C4, we enter into the realm of 4K UHD resolutions and touch screens, while the highest Z240-C2 doubles the RAM at 16 GB.
http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/...-pro-price.png
Prices start at $999 all the way up to $1899. The Z240-C3 and Z240-C4, in particular, will be available exclusively from the Microsoft Store and will come with a pure Windows 10 installation, meaning no bloatware in sight.

Images of a new bracelet leak Samsung fitness
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...ng-fitness.png
It seems that Samsung has a new wearable prepared for the MWC. This is what we know by intuition after seeing the leaked images of called “Triathlon”, a bracelet that would be alike very much the current Gear S2, but that would center its capacities on the world of the sport and the healthy life. It would have the already well-known revolving ring, and would work with Tizen, although at the moment there is no official assertion of its existence (but with these images of seemingly official everything points that we will know very quickly).
Its design attracts attention precisely for the similar one with the clock, since the previous sports bracelet, Gear Fit, was curled and completely differently. This decision should perhaps to the great thing that there has pleased the Gear S2, so probably Samsung prefers to go to the sure thing and of step to maintain a common line between its wearables. Others of the leaked images it shows the existence of an accessory that seems to be a sensor of external cardiac rhythm that we would place on the sports clothes. There are no details if it will come included or not with the bracelet, but bearing in mind that till now Samsung was choosing to integrate it under the box, it is possible that in this occasion it presents itself as an optional accessory for those interested parties in its pulsations.
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...-fitness-G.png
This SM-R150 will have possibly a price quite lower than that of the Gear S2, by what it might be placed like a quite interesting option opposite to other models of the market like the products of Fitbit or Garmin. We will see if in the next
weeks we go out of doubts.

What chases Microsoft with this measurement? Since a major integration between Windows and the last available hardware, since many teams will receive new services of the system in the future. Omni: GoPro camera DVR is revealed
http://www.new-digital-gadgets.com/w...-revealed.jpeg
GoPro do not mess with virtual reality. While the cameras terrain builder knows some difficulties on its heart of trade, he put on this area of booming activity to try to improve sales.
The Omni is part of this strategy. This cube welcomes six cameras that record video simultaneously; videos nested into each other to create an image 360 degrees which can be admired through a VR headset.
GoPro did not give the price of the Omni, but if you add up the prices of six cameras, it already reaches 2,000 $. There are chances that the final bill will be higher ... even if it is still cheaper than the Odyssey, another carrier which comprises 16 Hero4 cameras: this model cost ...15,000 $.
The manufacturer has not indicated either marketing date. On this market, Samsung and LG both announced 360 small cameras, the recording quality is no doubt, but that should be more affordable.
