Osbourne came to his defense on The Talk
https://static.billboard.com/files/2...0-1024x677.jpg
Initially contrite on Twitter, Osbourne then went on the offense during the show's hiatus. She gave interviews to both Variety and Entertainment Tonight, claiming that she had been "set up" by the producers and was offered up as a "sacrificial lamb." Her publicist also issued a doozy of a statement, alluding to Remini and Robinson Peete's comments by noting, "The only thing worse than a disgruntled former employee is a disgruntled former talk show host." It's not typically the strategy of someone expecting to keep their job, so the writing seemed to be on the wall.

The Reids are seeking all of WMG’s “gains and profits” attributable to the infringement in an amount to be proven at trial or $2.55 million in statutory damages representing $150,000 for each of the 17 registered works they claim are being infringed. In addition, they're asking for damages for all sound recordings infringed “up to an[d] including the date of trial”; a court declaration that WMG’s retention of these copyrights violates the Copyright Act of 1976; “an accounting of all gains, profits and advantages derived from WMG’s acts of infringement and other violations of law”; and costs of the suit, including attorney’s fees.

Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth on ‘Utopian Ashes’
Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth are an odd coupling — he’s prone to loose, decadent, druggy overtures while she actually screams primally — and their differences become even more apparent on Utopian Ashes, a concept album of sorts that they made together about two lovers’ preamble to a divorce. And like any couple in disarray, the Venn diagram of their respective worlds seem only to intersect barely. When they do, it can be beautiful; when they don’t, it’s uncomfortable to be around, yet even then their unique talents can sometimes be a song’s savior.

Elvis Costello’s Songs in Spanish
When Elvis Costello decided to re-record his album This Year’s Model entirely in Spanish, he knew he wasn’t going to do it alone. He saw the entire thing as a lively, hands-on collaboration in which he’d give Spanish-speaking artists access to the original master recordings from the iconic 1978 LP and let them interpret the songs exactly how they wanted. He and the producer Sebastian Krys enlisted a varied set of musicians from around the world and watched as each of them added their own magic to the anticipated project, which is called Spanish Model and is out today via UMe.

When asked if the new album was ready and good to go, he said, “Yeah, pretty much, yeah. It was a bit disjointed how we had to do it, and there are bits to finish off, but yeah, it’s all in the works.”

Why the Beatles’ ‘Revolver’ Sounds More Gloriously Weird Than Ever
No Beatles album has a mystique quite like Revolver. John, Paul, George, and Ringo threw all their craziest ideas into their experimental 1966 masterpiece, turning Abbey Road Studios into a hotbed of madcap creative frenzy. Revolver was underrated for many years — especially in America, where the complete album didn’t even get released for 20 years. So it took time to get recognized as the Beatles’ boldest, brashest statement. But the shock of the new Special Deluxe Edition, with a treasure trove of unheard outtakes, is realizing there’s so much more to these songs than anyone knew. Hearing the new Revolver is a revelation that takes time to sink in for real: proof that the world is still underrating the Beatles.

More than half a century after Jimi Hendrix moved to England to form rock’s preeminent transatlantic power trio with a couple of Brits, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. Now Billboard reports that a Manhattan federal judge decided Tuesday that England will also be the starting place for a lawsuit that Hendrix’s estate (Experience Hendrix, LLC) and Sony Music filed against Redding’s and Mitchell’s estates last year. The whole idea behind the lawsuit was to stop Redding’s and Mitchell’s heirs from seeking to expand their copyright claims; it was a lawsuit about lawsuits.
