Cat Stevens has confirmed plans to release a new album next month. The new release, titled Tell 'Em I'm Gone, is due to hit on October 27 and will be released under his current stage name, Yusuf. The release was co-produced by Rick Rubin and Stevens says the new release shows off a musical side that has always been hidden just below the surface.

Pretenders fronter Chrissie Hynde says she's sick of seeing female musicians take off their clothes to get attention. The singer knocked such sleazy female artists, calling them "porn stars": "There's a definite division of what I'd call porn stars trying to make records, and then musicians. If you go and see Kate Bush, you'll see a real musician," Hynde said.

Bono's bandmates in U2 are not a fan of his guitar playing, says the Irish singer. Speaking with Christian O'Connell on the Absolute Radio Breakfast show, Bono gave details on the situation. "I shouldn't really tell you this, but there's often a move in U2 to stop me playing guitar . . . I do have the Edge beside me, and he's often saying 'No, no, let him play one.'"

Ace Frehley has announced a tour behind his latest solo album, Space Invader. The dates kick off at New Brunswick, New Jersey's State Theater on November 14, and include 13 dates across the east coast. "I consider Ace a friend, and I will always be his drummer," said Scot Coogan, who joins Ace on the tour behind the drum kit.

Sting has been added to the lineup at the annual Global Citizen Festival, joining No Doubt to help raise awareness in the fight against global poverty. The free event takes place on the Great Lawn in New York's Central Park on September 27. "Our earliest musical influences were artists from around the world who made us aware of issues beyond our own backyards," No Doubt said.
