Valve has offered mobile apps on Android and iOS since the early days of the smartphone era, and it’s barely improved the apps since then. That’s changing at last with a complete revamp for the Steam Mobile app. The new version, now live on both platforms, has a more functional design, additional login options, and the ability to remotely install games on your PC.

It’s time to bust out that tiny violin you’ve been saving for special occasions. It turns out the poor reception of the $1,200 RTX 4080 has resulted in some collateral damage: Scalpers are now stuck with loads of GPUs. It’s apparently so bad that Newegg has stopped offering refunds for the cards, causing some scalpers to graciously offer the cards for MSRP, according to Moore’s Law is Dead (via Videocardz). It seems the holiday spirit is still alive and well after all.

https://www.extremetech.com/wp-conte...-7-640x360.png
Though AMD’s all-new Radeon 7900 series cards have been relatively well received by the gaming public, all the news about them post-launch has been surprisingly negative. Reports have already surfaced of broken shader prefetch hardware in some cards using early silicon, which AMD has said isn’t a thing, and now German site Hardwareluxx has received numerous reports of Radeon 7900 XTX cards overheating in its forums. There are apparently enough reports that it got AMD’s attention, as the company says it’s investigating the issue.

CES is when gaming monitor companies bring out the big guns -- and few are bigger than the new 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9, a curved, DisplayHDR 1000 model. Teased by AMD during its RX 7000-series GPU launch in November as the first monitor announced with DisplayPort 2.1 support, the Neo G9 has 7,680x2,160 resolution. The high resolution plus HDR and fast 240Hz refresh rate make the high-bandwidth DP 2.1 essential, even though it's not a full 8K (it's a 32:9 aspect ratio).
