Brent Heighton painting
Brent Heighton has been painting for over 30 years fulltime. After college Brent began a brief career in the commercial art field. Not satisfied with the deadlines, the rush jobs, and working out other peoples ideas as to how they wanted things to look, he realized that as difficult as working in the Fine Arts was, becoming a painter of what you want and not what someone else wants, was the most important and satisfying. He has never looked back on or regretted taking that chance.
Working as a fulltime Artist has allowed Brent to travel all over the world in search of ideas and things to paint. Brent has traveled with his family to Europe, spending time in France, Holland, Belgium, and as far south as Greece. All the time with paints and brushes in hand, always looking for that inspiration just around the corner. The difference of light in a place like Greece compared to Cornwall, England is very exciting says Brent.
Brent and Elizabeth winter in their home in Mexico. The architecture, the people, and the light keep enticing Brent back there, “I find Mexico helps my creative juices start to flow when I’m there and I love the color of the light.” says Brent.
Brent’s watercolours, acrylics and oils have been well received by many corporate and private collectors in over 30 countries of the world. Brent has had exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Germany, Belgium, Holland, many parts of the U.S.and most recently Mexico.
His work has won him numerous awards throughout Canada and the U.S. But the important thing is, as Brent points out is not the awards, it’s how it makes you feel putting your feelings on paper or canvas so that the persons observing can experience the joy you had in painting that particular artwork.
“If you can make that connection with someone it feels great inside” he says.
Continuing to explore new ideas and approaches to painting, he is never happy to stay in one place creatively. And his work continues to grow and mature as he pushes his creative boundaries.
“It has been a bumpy ride over a long period of time to arrive at this point. I liken it to the uncertainty of Charles Lindberg’s quest to be the first flyer to wing his way across the Atlantic. You get the plane off the ground – somewhat of an accomplishment in itself – and reach an altitude where you feel everything’s under control. But then there are a series of mechanical concerns or foul weather systems that constantly test your mettle and cause you to question the wisdom of your choice to set such a lofty goal. And wherein I haven’t landed my plane successfully yet, at least I’m still aloft, and the propeller keeps on churning! While there has been – and I suspect will continue to be – constant hurdles to overcome, I have been extremely fortunate. It has not been all that difficult to keep a positive outlook towards my work. When a new blanket of snow smothers the countryside, I am inspired. When the azaleas and rhododendrons burst into bloom in my garden and my Koi fish reappear, I’m keen to paint. The angles of branches in a forest or the way the light streams through them can cause me to rush to my studio. A weathered fence, a golf green, fish boats in a harbour, intriguing architecture, waterfowl on a pond: all or any can move me to paint. And when I am painting, I am happiest.”

Daniel Gerhartz painting
Daniel Gerhartz was born in Wisconsin in 1965 where he now lives with his wife Jennifer and their three young children. His interest in art piqued at an early age when a teenage friend suggested they spend one dreary afternoon drawing. It was at that moment that he discovered his lifework. Daniel began his art education at the American Academy of Art in Chicago where he studied in the classical tradition and immersed himself in applications of technique and design. After a brief stint in commercial art, he began pursuing fine art; visiting museums to study master works and painting alongside contemporary artists. Daniel found his passion in painting from life. This direct approach to working with the figure and landscape allowed him to see and attempt to capture the infinite nuances of light, color, and form. This continues to drive his enthusiasm today. Since then he has been featured in solo and group shows across the country and has won several awards at prominent national invitational exhibitions and his work has been collected both nationally and internationally.
The artist’s skillful and technically adept work celebrates the created world, the human form, personal relationships with a connection to landscapes and environments of special importance. Many of his figures are dressed in dramatic clothing which he often invents for its aesthetic appeal and lyrical quality so as to achieve a sense of other worldliness.. His subjects evoke a timelessness and idealism, yet for the most part Dan has drawn upon his home and community, including family and friends, for subject matter. His sense of intimacy and honesty with regard to his subjects are a direct result of his closeness and proximity to them. A projection of tranquility, repose and rich introspection result from his knowledge of the content of his art.
In Gerhartz’ pictures the ordinary or commonplace is transformed into a higher reality and consequently a sense of greater importance. Emotions are a vital part of his express design, while his mastery of anatomy, the human form and complex surfaces combine to make his canvases very powerful visual experiences.
Daniel Gerhartz has established himself as an important American painter among the leading talents of our time. About his work Dan has said, " My goal is to effectively record the richness of our human experience, the contrasts between life and death, the dance and dirge, the beautiful and common, joy and sorrow, hope and despair, while in the end, offering a message of hope and pointing the viewer to the eternal." and " As I paint my subjects from life and have the privilege of studying the awe inspiring breadth and depth of the beauty of the created world, it is humbling to ponder the greatness of our Creator." Johann Sebastian Bach said it well as he signed his work, ‘Soli Deo Gloria,’ to God alone be the glory."

Duffy Sheridan painting
Duffy Sheridan has been painting since he was a child. His father, also an artist, encouraged him to learn to paint anything and everything. He has traveled the world and dedicated his artistic life to the discovery and expression of beauty as he sees it.
Although he and his family spent many years in relative seclusion in the far corners of the world, Sheridan’s work has attracted the attention of collectors on five continents.
Since returning to the United States in 1991, his work has received international acclaim and he has been designated a Living Master™ by the Art Renewal Center.
His paintings can be found in prestigious institutions from a Cathedral in the South Pacific to the US Air Force Academy to corporate headquarters in Manhattan, as well as in the private residences of kings, judges, bishops, doctors and collectors all over the world.
For over 35 years the teachings of the Baha’i Faith have been the primary influence of Sheridan’s life and work and have dominated his continual search for that balance of craftsmanship and artistic expression which has the ability to elevate, in some small way, the human condition.
Sheridan feels that he is in the process of learning to appreciate the richness of humankind and has come to believe that the purpose of his work should be “to magnify the dignity and nobility of the human spirit and the singular beauty of all things. When people look at one of my paintings, I’d like them to see that humans, indeed, are noble beings.”

Valueva Svetlana painting
Born in Moscow in 1966, Svetlana Valueva was accepted into art school at the tender age of six - an astonishing child prodigy. By the age of 8, she was winning international exhibitions and at age 11, was featured in a documetary on outstanding artists that was shown in theaters across Russia. By then, her father, a gifted artist himself, had given her his own studio. Also, she had been secretly shown the fantastical works of artists like Klimt, Alfons Mucha, Sargent, and Alma-Tadema, whose styles were quite forbidden in Soviet era Russia. However, this discovery was the springboard for Valueva's exquisite Art Nouveau-inspired vision. She began to attract scores of collectors and dealers who smuggled her work out to avid admirers around the world, until the Art Academy finally allowed her a summer trip to study in Europe. From there, Valueva easily gained international acclaim, and remains one of Russia's most outstanding artists.
"Why are my subjects women? Because beauty excites me, I like to see transformations, diversity, the layers covering the vulnerable paleness of a female arm, or tender matte luster of flesh; the skin's translucence beneath a film of gauze draping a naked body. My brush does not just move about the surface, it carefully penetrates the space of another dimension, going beyond the frontier - which is insurmountable to anyone else. There truly is space and life behind that fragile margin, as in a mirror. Of these space and life forms I express my daily chronicles, of their everyday life and feasts. And -- of women who belong there".

Josef Kote / Albania
In the scenic port town of Vlore, Albania, modern master Josef Kote emerged eager to share his unique vision with the world. Kote began a journey towards artistic self-discovery in his youth and never looked back. Discovering his artistic talent at the tender age of 14, Kote entered a competition to secure a spot at a prestigious art school. He was subsequently accepted into ''The National Lyceum of Arts" in Tirana, where he began in earnest to pursue his traditional European Art school education. He studied there for four years.
Desperate to turn his passion into a viable career, and knowing the importance of further training, Kote decided to take his talent to university. He entered another competition and was again awarded entry, this time at the "Academy of Fine Arts of Tirana." In 1988, Kote graduated from the Academy, receiving his Diploma in Painting and Scenography. The same year, Kote also produced a small but well-received animated film entitled "lisi."
In 1990, he relocated to Greece and began working as a freelance visual artist. In this new environment, Kote's style evolved and flourished. During the decade he resided in Greece, Kote was acknowledged by numerous prestigious artists, as well as public and private collectors. His elevated status in the art world led to many great commissions. In the year 2000, for example, Kote was commissioned by the Greek community of Toronto to paint the likeness of the visiting President of Greece, Konstantinos Stephanopoulos.
Always looking to widen his scope, Kote moved to Toronto immediately following the infamous Stephanopoulos commission. Toronto proved an easy transition for the artist. Not one to wait for good fortune to fall in his lap, Kote took to the streets right away, marching into Toronto's top galleries.
For the next ten years, Kote continued to garner critical acclaim. The artist saw his dream develop before his very eyes; the fruits of decades of labor fully realized. In 2009, he began his most recent artistic and spiritual journey, and for the third time, completely uprooted himself. He landed in The Big Apple, one of the greatest hubs for cultural and artist expression there is.
Today, Kote still resides and paints in New York City. But who knows what beautiful permutations the future holds for one of modern art's greatest voices.

Andre Kohn painting
Andre Kohn was born in Stalingrad in the heart of the former Soviet Union. He spent his first 12 years in the Southern part of the country near the Caspian Sea. Growing up in the small town of Baku gave Kohn an appreciation for nature, which he carries with him to this day. For years Andre had pursued a sports career, and had become a promising young athlete by his teens. He had always been a romantic at heart, so at the age of 15 he left athletics to study art. He began by studying the works of the masters, surrounding himself with volumes of texts. He found his way into the studios of some of the most prominent artists in Russia, including painter Natalya Govrishenko and sculptor Anatoly Vrubel. Studying under these talented artists he developed a love for the world of art and a passion to make his own contribution. Kohn spent years honing his skills through personal studies and work as a scenic artist before enrolling in the Fine Arts Department at a prestigious Russian university. The art world began taking notice of the 19 year old freshman. He was invited to exhibit his paintings in a one-man show at the Central Exhibition Hall in Ruse, Bulgaria. The event drew press from all over the country, bringing Kohn into the public spotlight. Many of his works were purchased for private and corporate collections.
In 1992, at the age of twenty, he brought a dozen of his drawings and his continuing quest for knowledge to the United States, settling in Montgomery, Alabama. At his first juried show in the U.S., Kohn submitted six of his paintings. He won four first prizes, one second, and one third. His talent once again drew immediate attention at his first U.S. one-man show. The show brought him media exposure in the U.S., and he became a member of the Montgomery Art Guild. He also became a member of the National Drawing Society.
