UPDATE #2 (8/23): Slipknot’s Corey Taylor said he’s “out of the woods” and recovering well after testing positive for Covid-19. In a video shared on Twitter, Taylor said he’s still positive, but no longer grappling with Covid symptoms like aches and a high fever (though he was still a little congested). “It shouldn’t be too much longer before I test negative, so that’s great,” Taylor said.

Sam Smith remembers how Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” got them through a tough time. “I went through a breakup, and I actually went into a forest and listened to this in my earphones and screamed at the top of my lungs,” the singer-songwriter tells Rolling Stone. “I’m a massive drama queen. Travis Barker didn’t miss a single a detail when putting together his Halloween costume for his House of Horrors concert special, which airs on digital platform NoCap on this weekend. Before Steven Tyler and Joe Perry became the “Toxic Twins,” they were merely intoxicated. On a newly unearthed demo tape, which is coming out with the regrettably punny title The Road Starts Hear, that Aerosmith cut in 1971 — two years before releasing their self-titled debut — the band sounds loose and lubricated on embryonic versions of “Dream On,” “Mama Kin,” and other ditties they would be performing live for the next 50 years. It’s at once both a sonogram of the band as journeymen and a testament to the vision they had early on, the dogged determination to dream until the dream comes true — even if it sounds anything but dreamy in the moment.

Rolling Stone has acquired a majority stake in Life Is Beautiful, the annual music and arts festival staged in downtown Las Vegas.
The sale - terms of which were not disclosed - is part of larger effort at both Rolling Stone, and its parent company Penske Media Corporation, to make further inroads in the live event space. While Life Is Beautiful will continue to take place each year in Vegas, Rolling Stone plans to bring it to new territories and expand the festival’s digital footprint.
