Maddie and Tae Talk New ‘Concept Album’
When Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye burst onto the scene in 2014 with “Girl in a Country Song,” the duo were often highlighted as part of the next chapter for country music. That breakout hit, along with the biting “Shut Up and Fish,” helped to get them placed in the same category as Miranda Lambert, the Dixie Chicks and Carrie Underwood; namely, women who don’t take any shit. But with their latest project, Maddie and Tae wanted to show fans the other dimensions of themselves.
Attachment 33147
“‘Girl in a Country Song’ is definitely the side of us that’s confident, just like balls to the wall, fearless. We’re just going for it,” Taylor Dye tells Rolling Stone Country. “But there’s days where we feel totally weak, not confident. We don’t feel beautiful.”

Courtney Love, Melissa Auf der Maur
https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-cont...2.18.08-PM.png
“Courtney’s a pioneer,” Auf der Maur said of Love in a statement that accompanied the tribute’s announcement. “Her legacy is vital to the voice of women in our culture. The passion she brings to her life and art fuels the long-fought battle for the empowerment of alternative voices as they take center stage at last! There’s no one as punk and fearless as Courtney, and she deserves a creative bouquet of honoring. Her power onstage is a massive force to be reckoned with. She broke new ground, combining raw and powerful rock music and lyrics of a singular feminist perspective, with her escapades as a Hollywood actress. Her legacy cannot be erased or confused by sexist or fearful critics. We are really excited to honor her.”

City Girls Announce Album ‘Girl Code’
https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-cont...photo-2018.jpg
Miami duo City Girls revealed their sophomore album Girl Code will be out on November 16th. City Girls formed last year, releasing songs for fun online before getting discovered by Coach K and Pierre “Pee” Thomas of Quality Control Music (Migos, Lil Yachty). The pair released their debut album, Period, to acclaim in April. In June, they appeared on Drake’s Scorpion hit “In My Feelings,” which eventually went Number One.
City Girls’ JT went began a two-year sentence for credit card fraud on the same day Drake’s Scorpion was released. Her sentence was due to begin earlier than that, but it was delayed so she can complete her work commitments, like an appearance at the BET Awards and, potentially, the final touches of recording this new project.

Grammy Nomination ‘Is a Win for all Women Producers and Engineers’
It’s been a wild week for Linda Perry, the veteran writer and producer behind hits for Alicia Keys, P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and more. On Thursday, she received a Golden Globe nomination for “Girl in the Movies,” a track she co-wrote with Dolly Parton. The following day, she woke to find out that she had been nominated for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at the 2019 Grammys for her work on the soundtrack to the documentary Served Like a Girl, Dorothy’s album 28 Days in the Valley and Willa Amai’s cover of Daft Punk’s “Harder Better Faster Stronger.”
Perry’s second nomination in as many days put her in rare position: The last woman to be nominated for Producer of the Year award was Lauren Christy in 2004 as a member of the production group the Matrix.

Lady Gaga at Enigma Las Vegas
https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-cont...7.24.59-AM.png
Lady Gaga staged the opening night of her career-spanning Enigma Las Vegas residency Friday at Park MGM, with the singer delivering a pair of live debuts during the performance: A cover of David Bowie‘s “I’m Afraid of Americans” and Gaga’s first live rendition of the A Star Is Born hit “Shallow.”
Enigma serves as a retrospective of sorts at Gaga’s career thus far, and the shape-shifting Bowie was as a huge inspiration to the singer, from her “Poker Face”/Aladdin Sane iconography to the 10-song Bowie medley that Gaga performed for the Grammy’s tribute to the late singer. The Enigma show marked the first time Gaga tackled Bowie’s paranoiac Earthling track onstage, with Gaga weaving the 1997 track into the Born This Way portion of her Enigma setlist.

Lady Gaga on Social Distancing & Coronavirus
Lady Gaga would love to be spending time with her parents and grandparents at the end of this week, especially considering how rapidly the coronavirus pandemic is spreading in this trying time -- but that's exactly why she won't be making plans to visit with them anytime soon.
Along with a photo of her posing with her dogs at home, the "Stupid Love" singer posted some thoughts on COVID-19, and what she's learned in her conversations with some healthcare professionals about it, on Instagram on Saturday (March 14).
"It’s not the easiest for everyone right now but the kindest/healthiest thing we can do is self-quarantine and not hang out with people over 65 and in large groups," she writes. "I wish I could see my parents and grandmas right now but it’s much safer to not so I don’t get them sick in case I have it."
She closed her brief note with an optimistic and hopeful sign-off: "I love you world, we’ll all get through this. Trust me, I talked to God -- she said we’re gonna be ok."
