Thursday Sector Laggards: Healthcare, Technology & Communications
Looking at the sectors faring worst as of midday Thursday, shares of Healthcare companies are underperforming other sectors, showing a 0.7% loss. Within that group, Endo International plc (NASD: ENDP) and Allergan PLC (NYSE: AGN) are two of the day's laggards, showing a loss of 4.3% and 3.1%, respectively. Among healthcare ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (AMEX: XLV), which is down 0.5% on the day, and down 3.41% year-to-date. Endo International plc, meanwhile, is down 78.83% year-to-date, and Allergan PLC, is down 30.94% year-to-date. Combined, ENDP and AGN make up approximately 3.6% of the underlying holdings of XLV.

Notable Friday Option Activity: DRQ, AFL, JCP
Looking at options trading activity among components of the Russell 3000 index, there is noteworthy activity today in Dril-Quip Inc (NYSE: DRQ), where a total volume of 4,915 contracts has been traded thus far today, a contract volume which is representative of approximately 491,500 underlying shares (given that every 1 contract represents 100 underlying shares). That number works out to 98% of DRQ's average daily trading volume over the past month, of 501,470 shares. Particularly high volume was seen for the $70 strike call option expiring December 16, 2016, with 4,900 contracts trading so far today, representing approximately 490,000 underlying shares of DRQ.
