China Exports Rise More Than Expected

China's exports grew more than expected in March and imports logged an unexpected fall largely due to the lockdown and supply chain disruptions, official data revealed on Wednesday. Exports grew 14.7 percent on a yearly basis in March, the General Administration of Customs said. This was faster than the expected growth of 13.0 percent but slower than the 16.3 percent expansion posted previously.

China consumer price inflation accelerated to the highest in two years in July driven by pork prices, while factory gate inflation continued to ease, official data revealed Wednesday. Consumer price inflation rose to a two-year high of 2.7 percent in July from 2.5 percent in June, the National Bureau of Statistics reported. But the rate was below economists' forecast of 2.9 percent.

China Service Sector Continues To Expand In August

China's services companies continued to recover in August from the recent wave of the pandemic underpinned by strong sales, survey results from S&P Global showed on Monday. The Caixin services Purchasing Managers' Index came in at 55.0, down from 55.5 in July. A score above 50.0 indicates expansion. Moreover, the rate of expansion was the second-quickest recorded since May 2021.
